Vince -

Most interesting article. It comes from Kansas City - my home town area and BBQ is king there. Many arguments over BBQ quality from the Carolinas vs Kansas City vs Texas. I did a lot of growing up on a southern farm with Carolina BBQ but much prefer KC and Texas styles. KC and Texas styles are far closer to each other than Carolina style IMHO.

However, it's all good food.

Wow.....that's all I can say, really. Wow (in an 'I can feel my arteries clogging' sort of way).

Liz, it's not that bad. I looked up some nutritional values and it turns out that a 2 oz serving of this culinary masterpiece has about 300 calories of which 250 are from fat. Not the best ratio of course but not a killer either if some one wanted to try it once (out of morbid curiosity of course).

Here's another old wise saying to live by...all things in moderation..Well in this case, tiny portions & maybe once every 10 years :-)

Hey, I love bacon, actually, but still.... 'wow'.....and for anyone eating this concoction, I hope your dive buddies are trained rescue divers....:-)

A co-worker is making that on Sunday for Superbowl (seriously). He sent us the link and said if he wasn't in on Monday, it would be because he'd be recovering from the heart attack...on the other side, he said he'd bring in any leftovers!

Tink.....did your co-worker survive the "Pig, Pig and More Pig" extravaganza? If so, did he bring in the leftovers?

I want to experience this second-hand, as I have no Lipitor to protect me.

He survived...and another coworker said there were TWO at the party she went to! She said that the bacon exploded on each...???

Well I was waiting to see what happened to them.
Omagosh..only 2 people? The bacon explosion could be deadly..
Remember what I posted..all things in moderation..
Well hopefully they had some fine scotch to wash it down with! :-)

One serving of that would undo a year of my pain eating chicken rather than beef (most of the time). It sure looks good, I'd have to wash down all the saltiness with like 4 beers and a glass of scotch.

Vince, no, two of the bacon things exploded, not the people...

I'm glad to hear everyone survived unscathed (their internal health remains to be seen).

Vince.....does Scotch have some special de-clogging properties or is it just good to drink or both?

You stay clogged, but you just don't worry about it so much...

Liz & Barbara...No no no..A little scotch is actually beneficial for your heart. It decreases the viscosity of your blood, lowers your blood pressure and also raises your HDLs (good cholesterol).
As I said in moderation..
PS I'm not a physician nor do I play one on TV :-)

Thanks for that clarification, Vince. I guess my husband's heart health should be superior then! :-)

My wife asked for confirmation on Vince's soon to be dinner. She swears it is a ham. Personally it just looks too damn good to request details.....

John..It certainly looked interesting to me, and if I were at a party, no doubt I would participate & indulge my fantasy, but I have no plans to really make it for dinner.
Now BBQ ribs is another thing. I usually eat plenty on Bonaire.

Vince - I was referring to the pick in your profile. I told my wife that it is something smoked and thus not a ham.

John..no that wasn't smoked but merely done in the oven. It was a prime rib roast which if I recollect correctly cost more then a few sheckles.. I probably put some type of rub on it but right now can't remember..Probably just herbs, sea salt & EVOO.
It was yummy.. But I had to fight off Buffy the Rhodesian Ridgeback who thought she was entitled to some. :-)
