We found a treasure in Rincon -- LeMaSe. Host Norman and his family make a good lunch and the best milkshake on the island. I like basic vanilla, but my friends tell me the pinda (creamy peanut) is to die for. I think Norman knows everything -- whatever I ask him, he knows a story, or why, or when and who! On your way to the park, or if you've come to town for the Marche on Saturday, watch for the bright flamingo red house, with the snazzy sign -- LE-MA-SE. Pass through the white gate, and there are tables set up under the trees -- it's a great place to relax and have lunch.

Hi Tom! I hoped this would smoke you out. When is your next planned escape from winterland to paradise? I thought you would want to know where to find your favorite island chef -- catering, and preparing breakfast at Golden Reef. Nothing fancy, just a great place to enjoy a homestyle breakfast, like dropping by a friend's house who says, "Have you had breakfast yet?", "How do you like your eggs?" and "Do you like your french toast with nutmeg?" THE BEST!

Oh, Tom, I forgot to ask: what's your favorite Le-Ma-Se milkshake flavor? Since you're an old-timer on Bonaire, you remember when Prisca's ice cream (behind the gas station) was a Rincon destination. Le-Ma-Se is the place to go for ice cream now. I recommend the Le-Ma-Se burgers, too!

Hi Lea, if Gibi still had his restaurant, I would be eating with him often during each visit.

Tom, I asked about Sherman's whereabouts, heard he's doing very well, but isn't living in Rincon so I didn't see him. Yes, he is a great guy; and YES, my recent visit to my Bonaire hometown was wonderful. I met Hilde who manages the laundry that is in my old house. They cut down the tree outside my window, the one that held my hammock, but she showed me that it still puts out green shoots. The house went to ruin after I left, but the wall that Donny built stayed strong. My neighbor Ilvia was serving lunch at the Grand Marche, and that's where I ran into Giby and Emma -- so I knew I was eating the best food! Papa Anthony is 86 and looks great. He has a big universal gym set up on his porch, and the TV featured him working out recently. Washington Park had a twister that ripped the roof off the patio -- very amazing, but not unusual people said. Franklin is at Blue Diver, and STINAPA is doing a good job protecting the environment -- a long way from the days when Franklin and I patrolled the park dive sites daily, watching out for illegal spearfishing. I ran into Andre in the Warehouse supermarket. The cruise ships are HUGE! Yikes! Heard reports that diving in the south, and at Playa Bengi and Slagbaai is excellent. .......

Is Sherman the same guy that is a teacher on Bonaire? He used to live right next door to the Dive Inn for a while and DJ'd at Jos on Sundays too. He was a wonderful man.

Leanora. I see you reside in Burlington VT. Congratulations on living in the healthiest city in the US! We were there last summer staying on Lake Champlain & really enjoyed the city & the surrounding area!

I'll definitely keep that in mind Tom. Burlington's a wonderful college town but it gets REAL cold in the winter (as you know).

Ponche Crema....ponche crema. I'm really gonna do a trip teport...maybe, but I can't find my laptop charger so I'm running out of juice. We did stop at Le Ma Se and had a grand ponche crema milkshake (i'm almost drooling now..again).....and got an excellent briefing on the history of Rincon from the owner. He even gots a pretty nice website at www.lemase.info
