HI we like to eat lunch in the room and then go out for a nice dinner. Do you have some recommendations for where we can get lunchmeat for sandwiches or like a crab salad type thing? Thanks.

I actually just saw some pre-made creamy type salads at Cultimara. Not sure what exactly they were, but I know they had some. Cultimara and Warehouse both have lunch type stuff.

The grocery stores have cheese, parma ham, and lots of other assorted things to make a sandwich with. I'm sure you can find something easily. The bread you'll find is good too. Also, if you dine out you'll probably have leftovers to eat and there is always subway.

Exito has fillings for sandwiches and they make all of their own bread.

Here's some of our favorites for the old lunch in the room: mini quiches or breakfast burittos from Last Bite Bakery keep well in the fridge and heat up nicely; pastechi's (sort of like an empanada) from Cultimara or elsewhere come with many different filling (gouda, meat, fish); gouda and cold cuts from Cultimara on their excellent bread or rolls; onion cheese bread from Cultimara; leftover pizza from your favorite place (we sometimes order a whole extra pie at dinner to put in the fridge for lunches); leftover BBQ from BobbeJans (again, place an extra order to go at dinner and put in the fridge); any leftovers from dinners. After a few days of this, lunch becomes a "clean out the fridge" smorgasbord of any combination of this stuff. Geez, looking at my list there's not really much in the way of fruit and veggies, but you can always pick that stuff up at the veggie stand by the water downtown. Getting hungry now, time to eat some breakfast. Wish a had a nice pastechi right about now!

I agree with everything that Scott said. We will be there in Sept and will do pretty much the same thing. It is nice to be able to have so many choices for lunch and the vegatable stand in town on the water has lots of fresh veggies and fruits.

The pastechis at Cultimara were very good, however I had a bad experience with one on my trip in April. I bought a chicken pastechi on Friday and it was good, no issues, then I bought 2 on Saturday, one for lunch and one for the trip home the next day. I had one for lunch then a couple of hours later went snorkeling. I started feeling very lightheaded/dizzy and had a headache. At first I thought maybe I was dehydrated, but I'm always very careful to stay well-hydrated. It soon became apparent I had food poisoning and it nearly ruined my last evening on the island. Needless to say, I'm a bit leery about buying one from that store again. Is there another place that makes them, and keeps them refrigerated? Thinking back on the setup at Cultimara, they are not kept in a refrigerated case. It was probably just one bad one in the bunch, so I'm not saying not to buy them, just to be careful.

My son loves the small sub rolls at Cultimara with a few slices of gouda, which is very dutch - een broodje kaas.
