We had a great diner at Cactus Blue last week. Food was perfect and the service was great. The construction around them is not making life easy, but everyone was very cheery!

I, unfortunately, was not treated well there. The restaurant was empty, save for 2 parties. We were shown to a very small table up against a wall-it looked very uncomfortable. When I asked for a larger table (all the empty ones were larger), I was refused. We left-I was looking forward to trying it.

My wife and I had dinner at CB on April 23 and 30th. Both times we sat at the smaller table for 2 people. The food and service were great. If we make it back next year we will go back to CB. We ate there 2 times last year and loved it.

Ate at Cactus Blue many times during our stay. The road construction in their area right now is bad but the service and food were great.

Cactus Blue was great to us.. I can't imagine getting bad service there or being rude. Every one was very nice there. Their dinner recomendations were perfect and I agree with Ken, the cherry snapper was hands down the best meal we ate on Bonaire.. The owners even took time to discuss the pros and cons of living in paradise..

Just got back from a week away and on the last night we went to Catcus Blue. My only regret is not finding it sooner! The decor, the staff, the owners AND the food were all amazing. Delicious everything. We're used to eating out at a lot of fine restaurants so we arents necessarily easy to please. Cactus Blue is not your usual run-of-the mill place. Drinks were outstanding... the ceviche is unbelievable... as was the catch of the day and the tuna carpaccio. The key lime pie is some of the best. I'm already looking forward to my next trip. We will undoubtedly be back.

last year Cactus Blue was closed the week we were there. Will it be open July 3-11 this year?

We've always been treated well by Cactus Blue (Hagen and Corrina). Their food and service have always been consistantly very good.

We where there this past July, and yes all the construction is making it difficult for some of their customers. But worth getting to!

I live on Bonaire and for the first time my husband, two friends of ours and I decided to try Cactus Blue. We did not enjoy our dinner, neither the service and the prices. The service was sloooooww, the food was okay but the shocking part were the prices compared to the value of food. The serves were so "tiny" that we left hungry!!! and when we received the bill, we could not believe it, we paid the same as we would usually pay at Patagonia(one of the best and most pricy restaurants on Bonaire)!!. So, next time I go out dining I would stick to the same old restaurants such as, Plazita Limena, Louise, Patagonia, we dont mind paying double in these places because we have always enjoyed the great service, the great food and we have never left hungry !
Cactus Blue is not worth your money, try it and compare it to one of the other restaurants mentioned above and you will see!

Sorry to hear you say that you did not enjoy CB. Perhaps it was an off night. I can safely say that I have never had anything but good food and service there. True, I am editor of the Bonaire Dining Guide and it maybe construed as prejudice but I assure you that it is not the case. If you are living on Bonaire, you may have wanted to talk to the owner before rushing to judgement. It is just a matter of courtesy we "foreigners" sometimes over look.

I don't know, maybe it's me but..Something about when someone's first posting on BT is a strongly worded negative of a local business that really bothers me. Did you discuss your displeasure directly with the owner of the business? If not, why not & if so what was done to make the situation better?

Wow, I would be amazed if this comment was true even from a first time poster on this forum . Our many dining experiences with many guests have been extrodinary everytime,Since there opening I have been there many time it's a staple for our semi-annual trips.I would be very surprised to see the pricing being such a surprise all food is represented on a menu with pricing . You should probably try this place again; it had to be an of night for you to post such a negative response. I have also been to the restaurants you mention and find them also very compatible for quality of food and service.

Welcome to BT, Samantha.

Cactus Blue is one of those love it or hate it places. There seems to be little in between ground amongst posters. You either feel the love and bask in it's warm glow, or you're a first time poster typing a bad review on BT. That's why you can't regulate taste, one man's sweet is another mans sour.

I'm confused that the prices were shocking, they are on the menu... I think you're saying the portions were shockingly small, Samantha?

Happy diners ask questions."How much is the special?" or "How large is that portion?" is something you should be asking anyway at a new restaurant, in addition to watching what food is going by your table. "What's that?" has led me to some gustatory delights.

"An educated consumer is our best customer.-Sy Sims"

Peace Out.
