Does anyone know any great places on Bonaire to have conch? I had an incredible conch chowder at Lions Den two years ago but last year they told us there was none available. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Conch is protected here. Places that do serve it buy frozen, imported product. Antriol Catering does serve it al la parillia. Since it is an endangered species here, most other restaurants choose not to serve it as to stop the demand pressure so that there will, hopefully, be less poaching of what is left here. Another species is Grouper that appears on menus...If you see it, it is most likely locally caught. While not officially banned from being caught, it is endangered non the less and you can "vote" your support for the species by not ordering it.

Hm.. We need some more conch farms. I believe there is one in Turks and Cacos that supplies restaurants in Florida. I will do without conch and grouper while visiting Bonaire. Thanks for the information.
