We went every Saturday last July. They have added to the shop and now have a new spot for selling the chicken. Be sure to get there early as it goes fast!

Yes, indeed they do, Susan is right on. Went in August and it was just super for lunches after a dive. I have even asked PegiSue to get us a couple of chickens this next trip as she arrives at our place before us. :-) Thanks, PegiSue!

Yep...still chicken on saturday. You can pre-order which is a good idea if you want to be sure.

So, please tell more about this chicken. How is it cooked? marinated? bbq? Got a map or directions to the store? just 8.45 days for us to get to Bonaire.

Big charcoal smoker, don't know if they use a marinade. Tastes to me mainly like basic barbecue, no sauce, delicious chicken but don't miss the ribs either. They're in the book, you can call in the AM Sat. to pre-order, pick up for lunch. If you don't pre-order either at the store or by phone, don't be surprised if they are sold out. Just there Sat. before last. one of my all-time Bon favorites.

Do they still do ribs? They were THE BEST!
Josie

We'll be stopping by on Saturday, for sure...

The ribs are mainly salted...no so much marinated. I'm a big rib person but I go for the Chicken at Latino

Where is this place? Since we get in Sat. AM we won't have much time to search around for it. I was under the mistaken assumption from somewhere that it was Bobbie Jan's that had the chicken.
Let us know where, please.
John's wife.

kinda hard to explain. let's see how i do and others can fine tune the directions.

at lisa gas go east on kaya industria to kaya nikiboko zuid. turn right (south). continue south till you see the street across from the bus shelter. turn right. go down two (?) streets and turn left. i think there might be signs after you turn off nikiboko zuid.

PegiSue, I have had the chicken and the ribs. We used to get the ribs, they were good, but then in the last year, ribs were not good at all. They are the really big long skinny ones, not much sauce at all as Bas said, mainly salted. A lot of fat. JMHO.
Bobbe Jans for ribs, Pegi! The Ribs Factory has good ones too! I go just for the chickens as they just melt in your mouth.

O.K. Here ya go:
Open Saturdays 10:30 am to Noon.
There is a back way but here are the simple directions.

Directions: Turn right on Kaya Industria to right / south on the Kaya Nikiboko Zuid - the road to Sorobon. After you turn onto Kaya Industria go to the first bus stop shelter and turn right on the very next street Kaya Aripuna. (If you get to La Portuguesa you went a street too far.) Go two blocks and turn left on Kaya Corantijn, it will be straight ahead one block.

debbie, i think you meant to say "after you turn onto kaya nikiboko zuid".

it's one of those places i can find but only know a few of the street names.

Hey Pat, Thanks, too many streets to type in, they all blurred together. Got it right now:

Directions: Turn right on Kaya Industria to right / south on the Kaya Nikiboko Zuid - the road to Sorobon. After you turn onto Kaya Nikiboko Zuid, go to the first bus stop shelter and turn right on the very next street Kaya Aripuna. (If you get to La Portuguesa you went a street too far.) Go two blocks and turn left on Kaya Corantijn, it will be straight ahead one block.

Now, y'all better leave some chickens there for me when I get on island! :-)

Bas,

In my opinion, smoke and salt are all ribs need. Can't stand the gooey sauce. To each his own...

David

Picked up a chicken and rack of ribs on Saturday --- GREAT!!! The ribs are just smoky and salty (could do with less salt..), but very tasty. Different from last year, but we enjoyed. Still working on the left overs.

Ester at Bonaire Town Homes contacted a local lady who makes wonderful Roti and we had two delivered for lunch and dinner today. Just Yummy!! It's great staying with local people who know everyone!!!

Will do, Michael!! B ut, I'm not exactly sure where you're directing us?? More detailed directions??

Also, can you direct us to Paradise Coffee? I know you have the best coffee (Patrice disagrees with that!!), but we like to try new places... BTW, the Rabbit in Mustard Sauce at the Bistro today is SUPERB!! I was planning to have a light lunch, but just couldn't resist that!!

josie, as you're leaving town going north, turn right just after the harley shop. by the old medical school. you should be able to see boomerang hardware just up on the left. sandwich factory used to be right there on the right. we miss it.

also, we know the reason they named it boomerang hardware....you can't go in there just once...you have to keep going back. really nice people in there.

those directions are only if you are walking. If you know where Exito Bakery is you continue up that street passing the now closed movie theater and pass Bill Clinton (no kidding) Computers on the left...then the medical school then the Suriname rest.
