I see no one has responded to your questions yet - I have been doing some fairly extensive reading of Bonaire Talk for some months now in preparation for our trip the end of April. There is a great map of the island at http://www.skyviews.com/bonaire/ which also has links to the 2 mentioned grocery and liquor stores. I've also read that Warehouse Bonaire is cheaper than Cultimari but I'm not sure where it is located. Jokes is a good place to buy beer by the case. Also someone posted that when you hit the circle (roundabout) just before Sand$ take the first right and just past the 7-7 and Toyota dealer you'll find the local beer distributor on your left. They sell most of the local beer and have a good liquor inventory. Hope this helps and I'll bow to Jake & Linda for any input they have.

Fresh fish is a but if a challenge. When you get here, you can get directions to one of 5 or six places to buy it, but generally it is best to check around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Another good spoit to shop is the tropical flamingo, behind the napa store. JC Hererra, the one near the circle, sells amstel. For a real varied selection, check out Cultimara. Consales sells Heinekein as well as lots of wines and liquor. Thanks Karen for the title....see ya soon.

Consales, Bonaire Warehouse and Duro Home Center are all on Kaya Industria. Coming from the airport, take a right hand turn at the intersection that has Lisa Gas on the right and Highway Rentals on the left. As you head inland, Duro is first on the left. Fedex/Rocargo for anybody that needs to know will be on your right. Up a little ways and you will find Consales on the left and Bonaire Warehouse on the right across from each other.

For those looking at the map, a left hand turn at the original intersection would take you straight to the Divi. Or straight through the intersection would get you to the 'T' intersection at the stadium.

WHILE IN BONAIRE WE SHOP @ LOTS OF DIFFERENT MARKETS, AS EACH PLACE HAS DIFFERENT THINGS OFFERED AND PRICED..IF YOU HAVE TIME TO SHOP THEN VISIT THE DIFFERENT SHOPS, MOST PEOPLE DON'T HAVE THE TIME ON HOLIDAY AND JUST HEAD TO CULTIMARA WHICH IS EXPENSIVE , BUT COMPLETE..TROPICAL FLAMINGO HAD GREAT PRICE ON FROZEN CHICKEN BREASTS, AND WATERMELON..I EVEN FOUND THE LOCAL SPINACH IN A BAG AND CHINESE NOODLES, AND JUICE IN A BOX TO BE CHEAPER @ EASTERN STORE..WHO KNEW ?

We use Cultimari for our 'big' shopping. It takes credit cards which makes it easier for us.

In previous years - the Warehouse had good cheese and other things in 'bulk' - maybe 2 packages taped together. Had a good frozen section. They only took cash (maybe travelers checks, I don't remember). Dollars were fine.

Consales has coke, etc sometimes. It had a great cool room with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Probably cash only - don't remember.

Fresh fruits and some vegetables under an awning on the Town Pier. Cash.

HTH - Bea

And, for those of us who never leave home without it, Cultimara started accepting American Express in December! :-)

Also, I was at Bonaire Warehouse yesterday and they are now open during lunch - 8am to 6pm non-stop! For folks who haven't been there in the last year, they now have a supermarket section as well as bulk/warehouse section - excellent butcher too.

Jake

Where is the best place to buy cokes, chips, bread, lunchmeat, etc? I would like to go to just one store. Don't want to spend my whole vacation at the grocery store!

We are arriving the Saturday before Easter via Air Jamaica. It sounds like we will land around 2:15. Will we be out of luck as far as Groceries that day and time?

No...Cultiamra will be open til 6. Did you rent a car? I am pretty sure they will also be closed on Easter Monday. Depending on where you are staying, they may have a service to provide you with a few basics. If not, let me know...I am sure we can arrange to have some for you....

Yes we do have a car rented and will be staying at Sand Dollar. It sounds like with no flight delays we should be able to pull it off. Thanks Michael.

We shopped at both Cultimara and the Warehouse recently. Some of the things we take for granted are either in stock or not, at one store or the other (Diet coke or Diet pepsi, for instance...if you want either of those, buy it when you find it!) One of the very best experiments we tried was the pork cordon bleu from the Warehouse butcher. All prepared, just cook in the oven. Terrific flavor! Overall the variety and selection is better at Cultimara if you just want to go one place.
