OK - not exactly following the rules - but this might make it easier - let's get together a real Zagat type guide for the island - there are so many great places to eat!! Just got back from a fantastic week - our first trip - before we left I compiled a list based on the work someone had already done using how many times restaurants had been favorably mentioned (RIGHT BEFORE THE RESTAURANT NAME IT WOULD SAY 1* if 1 person mentioned it - 4* if 4 people mentioned it - etc - back when this website did a chat about "list your 7 favorite places to eat) + I list addresses & phone numbers (reservations are KEY at a lot of places) + I researched some prices + it lists if it has a view (based on info people gave me from the Talk website) - how about if people list below the restaurant their thoughts - good / bad food - price of their meal - etc - and correct any misinformation I have? I did an example for 2 of the meals we had - Will's & Donna & Giorgios.

Thanks for the great list, Wendy. I'm going to print it out and take it with us when we go to Bonaire next month. I did something similar for myself when we went to Bonaire for the first time nearly two years ago.

What did you do about negative comments? Did you subtract them from the positive? I only ask because I hear such mixed reviews for places like It Rains Fishes and others.

Last time we didn't make it to Will's--the menu looked so fantastic--so it is on top of the list this time around. Would also really like to try a rijstafel at the Indonesian restaurant--Warung Louise?--and El Fogon sounds intriguing.

Of course, we only have a total of 9 dinners there (lunch is always crammed in between dives) so there is definitely too much choice!

I like that you included the view--obviously this is important to you. You know what would also be nice? To arrange the restaurants by other criteria--location, type, $$$, and setting--in addition to recommendations. Maybe it's already been done--or one of the long-timers could put together something like that.

Thanks again!

Just got back from our first trip to Bonaire. I must recommend Kontiki for lunch (because of the great view of Lac Bay and the atmosphere there). I cannot get the fish soup off my mind. It was different than others and I have emailed them to beg for the recipe. Our best meal was the last night at Patagonia. Their lobster sauce on the wahoo was spectacular. We liked all our meals though. Thanks, Patti

Sorrows, Will (of Will's) will not disappoint you, that man is a master.

Forgot to mention, in October I had 3 wonderful dinners and one very nice lunch at Patagonia. Each meal was well prepared and as an added bonus, the Palacios family and their staff are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Just got back from Bonaire and have to add my two cents in:

Wil's Tropical Grill was fantastic! Not only is the food top notch but so is the service!

Cappricios remains my favorite! Lola knows her wine and we ate fabulous Italian food with the most complimentary of wines.... Plus their tiramisu is the absolute best I've ever had!!!

Tom, I already made the reservation for Christmas dinner at Wil's. Looking forward to it!

We need a place for dinner on Christmas Eve. I would prefer some place close to our hotel (Sand Dollar) as we can then stop back at the hotel before proceeding to church for midnight mass.

I was thinking Lion's Den. Anybody got any opinions on that?

Sorrows,

We are going to Wil's for Xmas eve (his holiday menu sounds terrific. We love going there and usually go twice) and Mambo Jambo for Xmas day. They are doing an Indonesian Buffet. We thought that would be fun and festive.

Cactus Blue has a nice holiday menu, you might try that for Xmas eve. We are going there New Year's Eve.

Sorrows, I enjoyed two delicious and well presented meals at Lions Den this past fall. Kirk and his staff will make your meal one to remember. I suggest getting reservations YESTERDAY!:-) Bon Appetit!
