Hey is there any problem with the water here like Montezumas revenge, or do they use salt purification like I've heard?

Chris, There is nothing wrong with the water. Drank it straight out of the tap for 2 weeks best damn water I ever had.

It is desalinated, as you have heard. As pure public water as you are likely to find anywhere.

Wish I had Bonaire water coming from my tap at home here in NJ!

Chris..They use reverse osmosis resulting in pure H2O. This is the same process used on the space station and the shuttle (except they re cycle, Bonaire uses the sea water). Great tasting water but it's expensive so don't waste it.

I used to sit in front of the Dive Inn and watch people humping it back from the Cultimara with a case of bottled water to the Divi. I would just sip on my rum and tonic with my ice that I made from the tap and think, "Do your homework people."

I'm one of those guilty humpers We LOVE the tap water in BON; been drinking it for 13 years. We always buy a case of bottled water though. It's easy to refill the bottles with tap water, freeze them and grab and go for off site diving One or 2 bottles always make it back to the states with us; good to have while waiting on departure flights too.

Yeah, Jim! Aint it a joke! Watched a guy at Bongos insist on bottled water and then asked for a glass of ice. Genius!!!

KIV, it's all about the bottle. Right?

When we are finished our club soda or tonic bottles, which happens to be many, we also fill them for take alongs and rinses after a shore dive. That is why I drink a lot when I first get there to get the empty bottles. Yeah, that's it, the empty bottles.

We take our empty bottles and batteries home with us. Or, I sometimes give them to my buddy Lutty and he holds them for us. I am married to the queen of green.

Good suggestion, Jim! If you all love Bonaire's reefs, you will lug back with you all those plastic bottles, cans, etc., which at this moment are not being recycled on the island and ending up in the dump where they pollute the reefs. I have a house on Bonaire and every time I leave, I bring back all of my recycling (except glass)and get much praise from the customs folks. pass it on divers and snorkelers: Bonaire needs our help to recycle our waste!

I can't wait until I get the chance to drink the water again.

Just a thought, desalinated water has no nutriments in it. Make sure that you drink other things besides Bonaire's good tasting water...

That's EXCELLENT advice Ron. Rest assured I'll be sure to follow it when I'm on island

I must agree , its the nicest water ive ever drank or washed in , even my dive gear smelled fresh after a rinse in bonaire water .My tired old hair felt like silk after a week . After a week in cozumel nothing short of soaking in bleach gets same fresh smell . You just gotta love the place!

Ron is correct, you should wash down a glass of water with a cold beer. But not just before bed!
