My family (wife, 3 young kids, and babysitter) are returning to Bonaire on November 9. We are staying at the Plaza.
Last year, we ate out almost every night. It is funny how it is hard to remember the different places.
Here is what I do remember. We loved Richard's. We enjoyed the restaurant at the Divi Flamingo. And we had a bad meal at It Rains Fish.
I'm looking for other child friendly places. Also, what is the name of Argentinian steakhouse? Did I read that there is a night that they do a buffet?
Thanks for the help.
3 weeks and counting

Though my trips to Bonaire have not been with young children the following restaurants come to mind as child friendly ... Pasa Bon Pizza, Patagonia, Lions Den and Bobbejan's.

Susan, good choices:-) Also, I think Garden Cafe, as the South American Santa does own it, and is the chef:-)

Donna and Georgios as well...after I have my coffee, I may think of more...lol!

The Argentinian steak house is Patagonia. We loved it- we went 2 times during our 1 week stay in July. I don't know anything about a buffet, but the food was excellent and reasonably priced. ENJOY!

I am sure that Pablo and Ines at Pantagonia love kids -- in fact, I am sure that Pablo is very in touch with his inner-eleven-year-old!
We love the food and the folks that run the place.

I think that most restaurants on Bonaire are child friendly. My only suggestion is that you bring something for the kids to occupy them during what can be a long wait in service.

Lisa, great point or better yet if you have had a long day at the beach hire a sitter, have O'Neill deliver pizza and let the parents have a nice nite. The other night at Capriccio's a sunburned family arrived. Lola took the food order immediately for the kids (pizza) and then the rest of the night they kids slept in their chairs or in one case in the parents arms. The kids were about 8 and 10. Not a good parent choice but Lola was VERY accommodating.

I found almost all restaurants to be very child friendly. Several offered to make things that weren't on the menu or make a half size portion for the kids.Ann and Lisa Z offer great suggestions though. We only had one issue with a restaurant and I don't believe it was child friendly related.

I think one factor that should be included when describing an establishment as "child-friendly" is service; how fast do you get seated, how fast does the food come, and how soon can you get the check.

I know a lot of people here will argue that it's nice to relax and take time over your meal and what's the hurry, isn't this a vacation? Trust me, when you are waiting and waiting and waiting with hungry/fractious/impatient children, it's just not all that fun. It's sheer misery. I didn't find Bonaire as slow as other places (Belize!) but sometimes it is a consideration.

Actually, a lot of times after a long day of diving, even I'm not in the mood for a long, drawn-out dinner. I may feel differently when we're with a group of people, but a lot of times when it's just us, I want to eat and leave and go back to the hotel to sleep (or another dive!)
