Cactus Blue the other night was grand. The stew was superb, the 1/2liter rum punch great and the creme brulee was to die for!

Went to Papaya Moon last and and made the mistake of ordering the beef fajita dinner. I don't know where they got the "meat" they used but to say it was unchewable would be a compliment. I ate the three flour tortillas which I filled with the rice and beans and called it the disaster it was, paid my bill (they discounted the uneatable meat by half price) and left. I went back to Cactus Blue and saved the evening with a VERY competent and delightful Kahlua and Coffee and another brulee magnifique!

I think I'llk give the Argentenian Steakhouse a try tonite.

Randy -

Had a similar experience at Papaya Moon in August that would not encourage us to return. These are things that can be addressed by management and perhaps they will be.

Also, had pretty much the same experience at Cactus Blue. It is on our repeat list.

Our favourites so far are Rum Runners, Warung Louise, Wills Tropical Grill, Richards and Patagonia. We are having our 30th Anniversary meal tonight with a special menu by Floris at Rum Runners.

Hi Island Girl,

thanks for posting. 'Stuff' happens. Many of the restaurants I visited commented that they tried to only buy Argentinean tenderloin for their beef dishes as the other cuts varied too much in quality.

I dunno.

The next time I'm on Bonaire, I will drop by and try a different menu item.

Do give Papaya Moon another try! Its one of our favorites, try the fish tacos, lobster enchiladas or the orange macadamia pork, for desert the sizzling apple pie a la mode is awesome!

Randy, most likely goat meat. Unique, isn't it?

"I'll have the goat cheese, and what's that meat?"

Travel be fun, huh?

You have to give Papya an other try, we eat there several times and it was great, from appetizer until dessert. Bamboo and the tappa with La Guernica are nice and do have good food, but are more expensive. Our experience with Cactus Blue was not so good, expensive and only the dessert - creme brule- was very good.

Best dessert on the island?

Creme Brulee at Papaya Moon. We sometimes stop there after having the meat somewhere else.

Only problem at Papaya Moon we have ever seen was the waitress taking a call on her cell phone halfway through taking our order. It's obviously not that strange there though, at one point two waitresses and the bar girl were all on cell phones. Maybe that's how the orders get to the kitchen???

Sorry, I should add that it's not because we had bad meat at Papaya Moon, just not quite the things on their menu that we prefer.

my favorite is the Mona Lisa, I try to get there each time I'm in Bonaire. Nice atmosphere, good food, good wine, not cheap, but reasonable and I've met some nice people there. Hope to eat there next month. I am so happy winter is almost over in New York. Get me out of here.
