Does anyone know how I can get in touch with Richard's to make a res for Christmas night? I don't even know if he'll be open.

We had our hotelier make the reservations for us. Where are you staying?

Marge, that is a good idea. We are staying at BOA, close to It Rains Fishes. I can just email them and ask them to do it. Problem is, nobody ever seems to be there (At Richard's)during the day so you can make a res.

It's best if you phone Richard's directly, 011-599-717-5263, Tues - Sun, between 5:30pm - 9:30pm, if you want an immediate reply. Your hotel will be able to make some rsvns, but, what will they do if he's already booked for that night (how much e-mail tag do you want to play)? He is back to work as of last night (Oct 2). I'm not sure if he's decided yet whether or not they'll be open on Christmas day.

What's the matter Dave, one franchise not punishment enough? I still have your job application hanging on the fridge--and I'm sure I'll have a job opening in January (yes, I'll be here then)... But 'cha gotta wear the hat....
;-)

We made our reservation by phone from the UK about seven weeks ago. We booked the pier table, but I heard that the pier was damaged slightly by Felix, hopefully it will be back operation before the weekend

Brian, the pier table at Richard's was fixed w/in a few days after the waves subsided--it's fine now.

PS Boat Chick-we always take job applications....as long as you can speak Papiamento, Dutch, English & Spanish, you'll be hired (Dave, how's the Dutch coming along?).
;-)

The only Dutch I know is "Vat Sech Du?", which I think means "What Say You?". I say it everytime I watch Law & Order when the judge asks the jury "What Say You?"......

And as far as the spelling, I learned the saying from a "Learn Dutch on Tape" tape, so I'm sure I spelled it wrong.

Either way, it probably wouldn't help much at the KFC. Actually, it doesn't help much anytime.

Wearing the hat wouldn't bother me (in fact, I would like to have one!). It's the apron that I would protest. Plus, I have an uncanny talent of making correct change, which appears to be a deficiency in the KFC counterperson training manual. So, I don't think I have a KFC career in my future :-(

Dave Goodwin.

Wat zeg ye? Dave, your created language is probably mixed up enough to be fine. After you learn 3 more languages, and can do transactions in 3 currencies, we'll talk more. And aprons are optional.
;-)

PS: BC, the hats are black, you'll look fine. You want the name badge that says "I'm a chicken genius" ? Or the regular "Team Member" ?

We ate at Richards last night and the Pier table is still definitely closed. So our romantic 30th Anniversary meal was at a nice table at the front but with two really loud speaking gents sat next to us. Although the food was very good, this was still very disappointing as we had called the night before to confirm our reservation for the Pier table (booked two months ago) and we were told all was ok and confirmed and we had the Pier table for the night.

Brian, I just found out that the pier was closed because one of his staff called in sick, not because of a fault with the pier. It's an unfortunate situation for all involved, and I'm sorry your dinner didn't go as planned. Without a full staff, which is only 2 at the moment anyway, the one waitress working the entire floor simply cannot attend the pier too, even with the help of the cashier/hostess. He is looking for another waitress, but hasn't found one yet.

Ruth

The reason we were given by the staff at Richards for the Pier table being closed on Saturday night was that the boards were still loose and unsafe after the damage caused by Felix. We were served by two waitresses during our meal, who were assisted by the cashier/hostess. The restaurant was fairly quiet, with maybe three or four tables occupied.

As I said previously, the food was very good, but we were disappointed that we didn't get a romantic table as promised, for our 30th Anniversary meal.

Sorry for the late response, but we just signed up. We also made reservations at Richard's for the pier table on two different occasions. Both times we called ahead the day before to confirm, since the reservation had been made months ahead. The first time we got there the table was not available, and so we ate at one of the regular tables. The meal was very good. The second time was in October, and the occasion was a birthday. When we arrived we were told the table was not available. This time we asked to speak with Richard, and explained that this was the second time we had reserved the table, called ahead to confirm, and arrived to be told the table was not available. He proceeded to ask his staff if we had called, and when one of them admitted to it, he told us she shouldn't have confirmed. He made us feel like he was questioning our honesty. The whole scene was so unpleasant for us that we left and ate somewhere else. It is unlikely we will never enter the restaurant again. Sandy and Wes
