Want a romantic dinner? Make a reservation at Richard's for the pier table. It's an unbelievable setting. The food was great, Richard is extremely nice. Service is a bit slow but over all fantastic. Also can highly recommend Bobbie Jeans, great BBQ. Loved the ribs and the chicken. Also the satay is very good. I can't remember the name but there was a great bakery on the way out of town on the right going north. We went to Casa Blanca for the Monday night deal, it was good, but our friend with us said that it not as good as it used to be. We also went to catus blue, thought is was good but $$$. We cooked at home a couple of nights also..City Café for lunch.

Last Bite Bakery. Great quiche in the morning too. Yes, I am a real man. Your friend is correct about Casa Blanca. The old owners have moved to Patagonia. It is still good. We did the Monday slide show this summer with Albert. The show was good, but their mixed grill tasted like it had been cooked in the afternoon by Gepeto, Pinnochio's father, while he was making leather shoes and it got mixed all right.

You're mean Scott... I had been planning on Richard's since Kelly and Steve did the pier for their anniversary...
Richard's is closed for the month of September :-(

I'm sure that we'll have a lovely dinner at Rum Runners and we'll just have to come back for Richards!

Sorry to hear about Casa Blanca - I was looking forward to pigging out!!

Tara, you have to try "Donna & Georgio's!" That is just my favorite restaurant!!! We had the best service, food and great times there!! I don't understand why no one has mentioned this fabulous restaurant in their trip reports!!! I will never be able to say enough about this place...and Donna is so nice. I can't wait to go back to Bonaire to see her and eat there again!:-)

Hi PegiSue! Actually, I've heard a lot about D&G's. I'm sure that we'll get there too!
Ann Phelan made the resv for us in place of Richard's. AND, I'm having Sietse come to the house to make a wonderful private dinner for us too! shhhhh... hubby doesn't know that :-)

Tara,
The last time we were there for our anniversary, Rum Runners put out an incredible spread for us - they are first-rate. Every course was beautifully prepared and presented and it all was incredibly delicious. We were down in the area that juts out over the ocean, and had a gorgeous view looking towards Klein Bonaire.

Remember, two of the chefs from Rum Runners have been on the "Taste of the Caribbean" Culinary team for the last few years, and I believe they came home with the Silver this past competition - they definitely know how to prepare wonderful food.

I think Brian and Sue have had similar experiences with Anniversary meals, and I'm sure they'll put in a good word as well.

Trust me, you're not "settling for the next best thing". :-)

Donna & Gorgio's is always the first place we have dinner when we come back to Bonaire.
Besides having great food,Donna always makes you feel so welcomed. Sometimes there is music too.
I have heard that they are closed some time in Sept. for vacation.
One of our bigtime favorites!

Congratulations Brian and Sue!!! You've got a few years on us - this will be our 10th.
We've got the Lover's Corner for the 27th and I have no doubts or regrets (especially after this thread ~ thanks Scott!).
Hope to see you on island :-)

EJ, did they know ahead of time that you were celebrating your anniversary? If you give them fair warning that you want something special and why, they can put together an amazing and unusual meal. I think Floris and Isidore like the challenge, and it's a change of pace from the menu they prepare regularly. They're artists, after all. :-)

Cactus Blue is great - I loved the seared tuna, and of course the crab balls. :-)

Still, for an anniversary meal, I'll go to Rum Runners. Though it doesn't hurt that we stay at Habitat and can just stumble back to our rooms, stuffed and feeling just fine, thank-you-very-much, afterwards. :-)

They did not really know until we ordered. Our last night on the Bonaire we went to Cactus Blue and have to agree that the seared tuna and crab balls are great, as was the curry chicken and Caribbean Shrimp.

Want to make special mention of The Rib Factory. When We dine there the food is always superb and the prices are very reasonable. I wasn't feeling up to driving one night recently and We had a truck with standard transmission and my Wife and standard transmission are not a match made in heaven. She called and Rib Factory delivered to Sand Dollar. That is service. And the food was as superb as usual.

OK - where is Rum Runners? I just got back to the States and didn't see it on the island.

PegiPie - I'll be mentioning D&Gs in my trip report.

Dan

Rum Runners is the restaurant at Captain Don's

They are a separate company from the hotel.
