Any one know of any good chinese places in or near the city besides Spanhoek? Places where you can get good veg. fried rice or bean curd?

Also, anyone eat or know stores to buy Veggie burger?

Lastly, is there a chinese grocery store?

thanks,

The owner's of Spannhoek moved to a new business, a grocery store.

Personally, I do not feel BON has any decent Chinese on Bonaire..Sorry, either the bathrooms and kitchens are filthy dirty or the food is blah..

Not Chinese but Liza makes home made delicious Surinames food (Nasi, Roti, Bami..)on weekends out of her home in Noord Salina. Email me for directions.

Woah, we have a plethora of Chinese Grocery stores. Tung Fong on Kaya Korona has tons of cool Chinese foods..The lady from Spanhoek has a nice selection..Next to Peking you will find some and also near Garage Marren near China Nobo you can find Chinese foods (condidments). I think Wattaburger has a veggie burger...

Spanhoek is still up and running, right?

Any of the aforementioned places within walking distance from Kralendijk?

I like 'Peking' on Kaya Korona. Their Sweet and Sour Chicken is gooooooood.

China Nobu was a big let down for us this year. In prior years it was great, this year it was really bad (too salty, meat in vegetarian dishes, stuff prepared very oddly & different from prior years - we keep notes on the menu). Maybe it was just a bad night, but it was so bad & a one week vacation is too short to have 2 nights of inedible food.

KJ, yes, Spanhoek is still the local watering hole as far as I know.

Chinese Food Fans.
During our 3 weeks on Bonaire this summer, China Nobo produced some great and abundant meals. My missionary relatives who have been on the island for 25 years say it is still the best there. I am sure there are alternatives, but a good way to "test the waters" is try China Nobo's 5-guilder lunch special (~$3) as takeout/tryout.

fyi...I also think the Indo/Asian/Dutch sate' at BobbeJan's is best.

In every country the chinese adapt their cooking to the local flavor. In The Netherlands every chinese tast the same. And the famous bonairean chinese dish is: Sate ku batata (Sate with patato) :-) So just find a clean restaurant and check it out. Just don't expect any US chinese dishes. Mine favorite chinese has closed many years ago, (China Garden). Last time I went to Peking that was good and the one near the soccer stadion in Kralendijk. Clean but not very tasty.

Bon apetit

Even in the States most Chinese taste the same
( bland).. I prefer Thai... more flavor... and your not hungry in an hour. With all the great restaurants in Bonaire, why seek out Chinese?

Well, because I eat Chinese food here in America on occasion and since I will be staying in Bonaire, I'm trying to find similar types of food like home. Do you know any Thai places there?

Being a vegetarian, it's tough to find places that have good veg. selections...Chinese fried veg. rice is a no-brainer to me.

Not Chinese but Warang Louise on Kaya Grandi is nothing short of wonderful. The Rice Table is superb.

Not being a vegetarian, I'm not familar with those restaurants that offer vegetarian dishes. But I am sure someone here could guide you. If you eat fish, it is fresh and very good. You also see more and more salad variations being offered.

Hello,

A nice Dutch lady emailed me for directions to Lize. I am sorry she resides on Kaya Chippewa, NOT Cherokee. My apologies.

KJ, the Garden Cafe, Kaya Grandi 59, has numerous salads, and a section of their menu is "Soup, Vegetarian and Fish." They also have fresh fruit juices that are really good.
"Pizza, Pasta, Grill, Vegetarian, Lebanese and International Food"

I second the review on Warung Louise...they are really authentic Indonesian and even though they were busy, the service was fine. WARNING! The sambal (hot sauce) is a scorcher!!

Oooh, sounds like our kinda place, Michael! The hotter the better...well, we don't want to "kill" the great food, tho. Definitely on the list for the next visit. cb

Garden cafe is run by a vegetarian and he makes the best middle eastern dishes. Also, most places now have veggie sections on their menus

I'm a Peking fan - went there 3-4 times the last time I was in Bonaire. I expect I'll go again sometime next week. The nice thing is that although they do a booming take-out business, the dining room is usually fairly empty, so you can always get a seat....food is great *and* cheap (always a good thing :-)

Am I the only one who likes Chinese at The China Wall downtown? Airco and fast service. I think the food is pretty good. Am I way off?

Bob, You are just crazy to eat China Wall loempia,
won tan soup,
and Roast Chicken Chinese Style! I wonder if
you should apologize again to the forum for your unusual
taste. Be sure to ask for the house's home made hot sauce!
Did you ask the owner also to fix his sign inside so the hula dancers and oceans waves moved? It has been broken for at least 15 years.
