Hi all,

Just being away from Bonaire, I wanted to offer you all a short review of the places we visited for dining. These places were selected from recommendations here on BT, a private mail from Bas, recommendations from the owner of the apartment we rented, and the dining guide we picked up somewhere.

Upfront let me remind that there is nothing as tricky as restaurant reviews. It greatly depends on your taste, the dish you ordered, your expectation level, whether the chief has a good day etc etc. So if your opinion/taste/experience is different from mine so be it.

Note also that I am European (Dutch in fact), so my expectations from a dinner might differ from people from e.g. the USA (actually even Britain and the Netherlands seem to differ quite a lot although being pretty close together and both in the EEC).

Enough ranting. Let the comments come in.

It Rains Fishes.
================
We ate here twice, once on the first day, once on what was supposed to be the last day of our visit.
Both times the food was ok. Both the Teriyaki and the chicken suffered from a little bit too much soya sauce. The catch of the day was fine (no idea any more what it was, perhaps a snapper). The kids loved the ribs.
Service first time was good, second time, so-so.

Bobbejan's
==========
Don't expect any culinary highlights here. This is a basic BBQ restaurant. Then again the food was quite good and the staff friendly. Definitely value for money. Probably will visit again if I get back to Bonaire.

Mona Lisa
=========
We had the mixed fish and shrimp platter. It was ok. One of the fish pieces was ctually quite good, but the other 2 were nothing special.
Kids had pork. No problem with that (and no surprise either). Service in our case was not very good.

Pasa Bon Pizza
==============
Very good pizza. Recommendable. Service was only moderate, maybe because the place was packed.
Only minor issue is that it takes 30-40 minutes to prepare the pizza. Now I don't mind waiting 30-40 minutes for my food, but if you order a large pizza to share and decide halfway that it is not sufficient because you are more hungry than expected (or because the pizza is so good), that is a little bit of a pity. Technically the baking of a pizza is around 10-15 minutes (at least in most other places I visit), so it would be nice if for a 2nd order they could reduce the time somewhat.

Casablanca.
===========
This is a little bit of a mixed story. We ordered the mixed grill for 2 with 2 additional plates. And it was good that we did that because the amount of meat that you get is way too much for 2 people. The odd thing was that 3 of us liked the food, but that one of the boys was not extremely happy. He complained about his stomach afterwards.
Could be something different as well. Service was quite good (we were pretty late, so it was not very crowded any more; that could have influenced things).

Wattaburger
===========
Went here for lunch once. A typical dutch snackbar ("friettent").
The burgers we had were ok. Service was ok (that is as expected in a such a place, or maybe a little bit better).

Plaza Beach Resort (the banana restaurant, forgot the name)
===========================================================
As we had problems flying out, KLM put us in the Plaza for a night with vouchers for dinner.
Our expectation level was not so high, but the food was quite ok. No surprises, but no bad things either. I had a filet mignon, forgot about the other entrees. Service was ok, with one exception, where the waiter when he discovered the mistake excused him.
Small issue is that this is candlelight dining, so it was a little bit hard to read the menu and see what you are actually eating.
