We are leaving for Bonaire TOMORROW!!! We are so excited to be going back.

Our question is whether we can take fresh fruit with us onto the island. We have been in places before that would not allow fresh fruit or food to be brought in(agricultural restrictions??)

Does anyone have experience or advice?

This newsgroup has been tremendously helpful in our planning --we will certainly have a trip report afterwards.

Thanks to everyone.

No restriction on foods. Bring whatever you like.

Keep in mind that there are loads of places to buy fresh fruit and veggies. There may be a bit of a problem since it is Karnval, however you should be able to visit the Venezulaean market in town.

Vann, depends on where you are coming from. I had fruit confiscated at SFO on our way to Bonaire last year. I was told we live in a "med fly" area and are not allowed to bring fruit outside of our locale. The fruit on Bonaire is very good and inexpensive.

I have related question. We usually take prime steaks and other ingredients w/us to St. Maartin because meat is expensive. We intend to take the same to Bonaire, I assumed meat would be pricey. Am I wrong?
thanks!

Meats are very resonable to buy. Less than in the US.
