Hi All,

We'll be arriving in Bonaire on December 12th. It will be our 4th time on the island. As always our flight gets in around 8ish and by the time we get a truck, our bags and get settled it's 10:00 or so and the restaurants are all closed up. We normally end up with the last that KFC has to offer. What other options are open to late night snacks? Is the truck at Gas Express open that time?

Just a few scraps of meat and a couple of beers will do!!!

Thanks,]
A & N

Don't know what night of the week the 12th is, but if Pasa Bon is open, that is definitely where you should go!

What time are they open till Kel? We have the same problem on the 23rd? I have never arrived in Bonaire this late, even after 14 times.

Thanks Ann. The 23rd is a Saturday. What is the Gas Express truck? That's a new one on me.

I think they are open til 11 pm?? Someone help me on this please.

Also, the Garden Cafe is open late too.. not sure what time, though. I came in on the late AA flight in July, and it was still open at that time of the night.

If you are staying at Dive Inn, you might even check w/ Donna and Georgio's since they are now almost next door !

The Gas Station, Gas Express has a trailer that sells wicked seasoned beef sandwiches called Lomito. It is 9,00 naf for a huge one. He/she puts in along with the beef coleslaw, tomatoes, ham slice and potato chips. I always say no patata i no jamon (Ham and potatoes..ick to me)...Also they have tres leche cake which I am allowed once a month by a certain someone. Haaa

I thought it was open every night from 8 PM on....

:-)

Al, I see you are coming in on a Tuesday, so Pasa Bon is out. I would suggest that maybe you ask the place where you are staying to have something there for you when you arrive. They can just add that to your bill. Some beer, bread and cheese would be good enough for me at that time of night. I try to grab something to last on my layover on the way down and take something sweet for later on after I arrive. Always have a neighbor get some drinks, soda/beer for me to have in the fridge till I get to the store the next day. If you arrive at 8pm, then just go from airport directly to a place and order take a way, have your partner stay with the truck to watch your luggage then go wherever you are staying and relax! You can even call ahead as soon as you land to give the order and have it ready for you while you pick up your truck and then go get it. Lots of options are there. I know you can order take a way from Ribs Factory and be all set to go on a Tuesday. :-)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
I'll try to hit the snack truck for some take-out on the way in. If that doesn't work out we most likely won't go hungry. I can't hardly wait to get back down there. The ocean up here in the notheast US is starting to get a bit of a chill (47°f)this week. I'm so looking forward to a lot of terrific warm water dives and great food as well.

Soon!!
Al and Nancy

Al - Welcome to BT. I like your occupation. Did you get a degree in that?

I think you have to settle for getting a degree in being an "International Man of Mystery" first, and then do independent studies.

Ohhhhhhhh - OK - but I'm not a man - can I get the degree in "International Woman of Mystery"? or do you think it is gender specific?

I forget the name, but the French restaurant near Pasa Bon was open late, and a lifesaver for us last year when our Bon Express flight took off from Aruba several hours late. Good luck. PS. That San Juan massage thread was a hoot. Really enjoyed it. Especially the Phila part. I'm formerly from PHL, now ATL. Enjoy.

Paris Bistro?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Tribs, RD (Supreme BonaireTalker - Post #3668) on Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 12:03 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

Oh man...say it is true! Is Paris Bistro open late? We have a late arrival on a Tuesday night. I would just be thrilled if the Bistro were still open. Can any one confirm?

Also, if there is an entreprenuer reading this...that AA late night flight seems to throw a lot of people into the "now what do I eat" category. Maybe there is a market, be it a small one, for someone to stay open on Tuesday nights and to ADVERTISE it so we can find them. I really detest eating at the San Juan airport, but so far it is the only sure thing for that late night arrival. :-(

Rumor has it that the Great Escape is now doing sandwiches/snacks late enough in to the evening to accommodate the AA flight. MODERATORS: Can Kevin post on this thread to answer some questions? Like...how late is he open, which days of the week, etc? I would like to get confirmation from him directly. (I know I could email him, but whenever I try emailing people with the bonairelive email address, it bounces back to me. )

Tribs: your e-mail gets through to us. AT&T has blocked access from bonairelive.com's servers, so we can't answer. I have to go through and edit my SMTP server settings to get through to AT&T customers, but most people don't know how to do that (or have a good alternate choice).

Kevin is always free to answer direct questions on BT without quoting prices.
Paris Bistro was open late in November. We ate there twice.

Depends on what you think "answer" and "direct" means, Seb.

I serve sandwiches at the bar, and the bar is open from noon to 10PM, 7 days/week, 365 days a year.

Hey all..it's Bistro De Paris as I'm sure Patrice, the owner would love for everyone to get the name of his delectable french cuisine restaurant correct! I actually keep his biz card and several others in my card file just so I can look at them to remind me how much I miss Bon!

Sometimes I don't know what excites me more...snorkeling in the perfect turquoise waters or satisfying my voracious foodie obsession on Bon!

5 days and a wake up!!!

Kevin,
We'll be arriving on the AE flight that arrives at 8:55 pm, by the time we pick up the car & toss our bags in our condo, will we be too late to have a sandwich & beers?

I don't kick people out at 10PM (usually), just ask that they arrive before then. If you are cutting it close, a phone call to let me know you are coming works wonders.
