We made a res at Cactus Blue for Christmas night. David, if you read this, please feel free to join us. I remember you told me you were coming down after the girls, but I can't remember when.

I am really psyched to eat there, after hearing so many good things about the place. I can walk there too. That's always a good thing after a couple bottles of vino. If you want my Christmas list, I can privately email you. LOL

James, I finally got to CB last night. I met the owners back in 2001 when I was a tourist. When I heard they were embarking on a new venture I was excited yet nervous, what another place to eat. I wanted to sit back and wait a bit before I tried the new place. The wait was worth it. One word: BRAVO. We sampled 4 apps and all won rave reviews. My fav was the crab balls and the ceviche. Each comes with a colorful and well prepared salad with a nice dressing. The dinners were superb on all levels. I loved the tuna sashimi. The coconut rice was yummy. The dessert, homemade Key Lime Pie made with Macaffee's Digestive Biscuits was the ending to an amazing dining experience. The service was impeccable. One complaint is there are too many choices. I hate that...Now to the point of our many island dining choices, CB offers a wonderfully creative Caribbean menu and is well done. It is a welcome addition to the Bonaire dining scene. BRAVO.

:-)

Isn't that Tuna great?

Now, try the deep fried Oreo cookies for desert, indulge in a bit of time travel and satisfy your inner child one more time!

deep fried Oreos on Bonaire? sounds like the owners have spent time at the Jersey Shore (where they have such other artery-clogging gems as deep fried Snickers)!

Dear All --

I was going to start a new thread about Cactus Blue, and then saw this one -- so will weigh in here. Sometime late in my trip to Bonaire (December 2-10) I did eat there, and it was wonderful. A funky little colorful bar, and excellent, friendly service. While I did not get to meet Hagen personally, I did talk with Corinna at length and was pleased to hear that business is good. For martini lovers, I recommend the Cactus Blue Martini. I had the Jambalaya pasta dish (reminded me much of Cajun cuisine in the states), and it was great. Given their really diverse and versatile menu, I recommend this place to anyone!

Steve
