Hi all,

yesterday evening we had a fabulous BBQ dinner at the Windsurfplace. They have BBQ nights every wednesday with usually live music too. It actually is a buffet with ribs, local fish like wahoo, sausages, salad.....
Food was really great and very nice atmosphere. With your feet in the sand for the Caribbean feeling. It's recommended to make reservations. You can call 717-2288.
The locaL crew is so friendly, it's really a nice surprise to have dinner there.
From the airport you go south and take the road to Sorobon. At the end of the road you will get a sign for Windsurfplace. BBQ starts around 7PM.
Enjoy! We did!

Wow, and I spent the entire day getting to NJ, which was fogged in. Finally got to my parent's house 'round midnight--NJ Turnpike is really pretty at night when it's foggy, and all the oil tanks & factories in Elizabeth look like they have halo's. It's cool & rainy--perfect November weather & enjoyable for me (because I know in 2 weeks I go home to Bonaire...). My 4th Thanksgiving in the US in 16 years-yay!

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the BBQ @ Windsurf Place-it is really special out there. This may be my last post for awhile, as this is my parent's first computer-so every time I sit down, they hover. Today we'll go over again the basics: "switch user"..."why does it say sign in"..."why is that ball spinning (they chosen the 'space' theme-so the 'ball' is Saturn telling them to wait)"..."and of course, how you can listen to a cd AND be online at the same time".....Happy T'day & Bonaire Days to all!
Ruth

yum - the BBQ sounds good. How much is it for adults & kids? How are the bugs there in February, given the breeze?

Sue, we paid USD 12 for the food per person. Drinks are not included but normally priced. I don't think there was a discount for kids. During the rainy season there are lots of bugs at night, just bring your repellent. You can also check this website: www.bonairewindsurfplace.com
It is a nice place, also during the day. There is a sandy beach where kids will love to play. Always nice to see the windsurfers in full action.
Personally, the beach over there is my favourite.

We did that same BBQ twice last year- great food and a lively crowd. Couldn't squeeze it in this year; must do next trip!

BBQ Wednesday sounds good! As it turns out, we arrive late on a Tuesday night so that will solve our 'where to have dinner' on our first real day. Would we need reservations for the BBQ -- or in general for most of the restaurants? In case it matters, we are traveling over the holidays (end of Dec to early January). Thanks!

You need reservations for sure or you will be turned away. The price is now 15.00 USD. Call 717-2288 to reserve your dinner.
