Has anyone tried Imperial Sushi? We like sushi, and can't always get the good stuff here in Montana. However, there are so many great places we already know in Bonaire, we would hate to spend a night there if it isn't top notch. We have maybe one night open to try somewhere new, since we couldn't go to Bonaire without repeating our favorites.

They are closed on Mondays. Please, everyone, go there. It is my favorite and I am a big fan. The fish is fresh, delcious and the wasabee hot as hades...I eat there at least once every two weeks and do take out more often.

Michael, I have to agree with you regarding the sushi. By the way, the family and I are arriving for two weeks December 24th. What is the situation with markets and restuarants over the holidays. Any info would be appreciated. I am familiar with the island but have not been for the holidays for a long while. Thanks Garry

They also have the grill with the "showman" but I have not tried it as yet. I like my fish raw....

Michael,

where is this place? I'm assuming they have more local fish vs standard salmon & tuna you find in the US. What are some of the comparisons?

Are their 'standard fish' fresh or 'previously frozen?

Michael, does this mean that we'll eat there next trip, rather than Bistro? If so, will Patrice ever talk to me again? I'll be there January 7 -- only five weeks, I hope we have time to catch up then....
Josie

Oh man...living in Los Angeles here I've become a shameless sushi snob! I'm so happy to hear I won't have to give it up the 4 wks I'm there! Oh...and Bistro De Paris...I can't tell if I'm more excited about coming back for the snorkeling, my friends or the restaurants!!

I can say that their salmon is very good. If you want tuna sashimi, your best bet is the Brasserie, by ReMax. The Brasserie uses fresh tuna caught by local fisherman, while Imperial Sushi uses frozen tuna from the states.

I really wish that we had an alternative. As the only Japanese resident of the island I have a reputation for sushi eating to uphold, and I haven't been able to do that here.

Certain sushi varieties, for example salmon, must be frozen since the fresh variety harbors parasites. The freezing kills off the parasites.
Eating raw meat or fish always introduces the risk of disease. Incidentally, I love sushi
