Hi All!

My fiance and I are coming to Bonaire for our honeymoon (wedding is on 6/24 and we leave for Bonaire right away on the 25th!). This will be my first time - - Chris, my fiance, has been several times before and we chose Bonaire because he loves it and wants to show me the Bonaire he loves! I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm a coffee junkie and looking for the best cup of coffee on the island - anyone?

Much thanks in advance!

We take our grinder and two pounds of Kenya AA - the tap water is free of weird chemicals (desalinated) and is fine for coffee. Most places have coffee makers. Sit on the balcony or deck or beach and have your first cup before going off to find the goliath grouper or a frogfish... Congratulations and good luck. And be sure to hydrate - that's our mantra when diving in the tropics: "hy-drate, hy-drate... ommmm"

i'd suggest bring your own - pre ground - the funky voltage could burn up your grinder...

enjoy;)

ps - coffee does taste even better on bonaire;)

Lisa,

Agree with above.
I bring our own coffee, pre ground.
Yes most places have coffee makers, however

we bring a thermos and a plastic cone and filter papers as a back up.

The water is fine to use out of tap.

Hope that helps. L

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Sounds like bringing our own preground is the way to go.

Didn't actually expect to hear anything about a Starbucks on Bonaire lol

Thanks!

We bring our own as well. But if in town stop at Lost Penguin for a very good cup. Be sure to request American coffee.

When on Bonaire I get coffee,Aroma Rode,I think it is dutch coffee, at cultimare and make it in the coffee maker. It seems richer than american coffee and finer grinde. I bring some home and put it in the freezer and take it out to give friends a treat.
Brings back the memories of having a cup on the tanning dock at Divi with the fishes in the morning! My morning coffee seems to taste best there.
Funny thing is ,I bring Folgers down for some friends and am now addicted to it too.

The coffee Loraine means is a Dutch coffee.
It's Douwe Egberts koffie Aroma rood.

The most sold coffee in Holland before the Senseo Crema cofeemaker appeard.
This is also from Douwe Egberts and Philips combined.
For us this is the ultimad cofee!!
I'ts a fresch cup every time, and you have 5,6 or 7 different flavors.
It's works kind of like an espressomachine and also leaves a nice layer of cream on the coffee, only you can chose the intensity of the taste, medium, strong, very strong.
You just take the flavour you like.
Maybe you can compare it with Nespresso, do you know that brand??

I think i will start a Coffee Cafe in Bonaire!:P
I will e-mail Douwe Egberts if they are interessted!!
Anyone interested in coming for coffe???:P

I will bring my Starbucks preground. You can find the Sensao machine at Cosco and Sam's in the U.S. I've tasted their pod coffee. It's pretty good but anything I drink has to be able to support a spoon straight up.

I'm alittle partial to Douwe Egberts with the black label. This must be a darker roast than the red, I think. It has quite a bit of flavor! And good complexity too, with just a wee bit of bite. If you are a coffee person, definitely try this and bring some back home if you like it!

Thanks for clearing my spelling up Lilian, it will make it easier to find now LOL
Now that I think of it , isn't there a coffee "bar" at the end of Karl's dock in town?
I have not frequented that part of Karl's, only the part of Karl's with the "happy hour" prices ;)

Yes, the best coffee is Douwe Egberts -we prefer the red package or medium roast. Nothing better than making your own and being able to relax.

We always bring many packs back home, for ourselves and for friends.
