Taking my first trip to Bonaire in two weeks. Can anyone tell me what the appropriate attire is
for most restaurants? Is it different for lunch and dinner? Are jeans & shorts okay?

Hi Tricia, welcome to Bonaire Talk!Welcome to Bonaire Talk

Bonaire is a pretty casual island. You can wear shorts and a t-shirt to most of the restaurants (they do like you to be covered up). However, some of the nicer places you might want to wear nice shorts and a nice tank/shirt, skirt, or casual island dress. Same for men (not the dress obviously). I'ts not "manditory" but they do appreciate having customers dressing up a little:-)

Welcome to BT Tricia,
Jeans & shorts are ok.
Bonaire is so easy, no bathing suits, something on your feet, some type of top. But a tux would be nice to see!

I take capri or cropped pants and nice shirts. As I am a plus size woman I usually don't wear shorts into town, I just feel better with a little more covered up, lol. David wears nice shorts and a nice collared shirt. Save your older shorts and shirts for the dive sites.

Thanks for the help. I had read you shouldn't walk around in your swimsuit (not that I would) so
I was concerned that evening dress may be a little nicer than we had planned for. My hubby is
definitely the shorts and t-shirt kind of guy (somehow I don't think I'm going to talk him into that tux!). I've found so much helpful information on BT but hadn't seen this topic. Again thanks for
the help! :-)

you can generally get as dressy or casual as you want. i can live there for months with just tee shirts and shorts and sandals.

Jerry, what you can't see in that picture are the puddles of water underneath them from sweating...

Pat, take it as a compliment:-)
