We wanted to go to La Flamboyant for a nice Valentines Day dinner, but were very disappointed. They have such a nice atmosphere: tables in a back garden, a nice trinket shop in the front. My complaint is not about the food, which was pretty good actually.
When we came they had a Celine Dion CD on very loud. I love the singer but believe me it's not restaurant music, or at least not a whole CD. I asked the waiter to put on something more romantic "it's Valentines Day after all". The manager couldn't come up with anything more out of place (totally not matching the atmosphere) - a 70s CD. A French restaurant with American 70s music just doesn't make sense to me.
After all, we had to wait forever for service (like more wine or water).
I think we will try something else next time. :-(

Natalya, what a disappointment for you!

We had the opposite experience (in fact we commented on how nice the music was ... suitable for the setting and in the background, so we did not have to 'yell' at each other).

La Flamboyant was our 2nd most favourite restaurant (Richards remains #1).

Food and atmosphere was excellent.

Even tho I'm Canadian Celine gets on my nerves ;o) so I would have been upset as well!!

LaFlomboyant is the best, Celine is great, whats not to like. Richards has ambiance, food is so-so. Richard is a great Bostonian and sailor, nice guy, lots of fun.
Brad and JoAnn, soon to be residents

Natalya, I think maybe you are being a bit unfair. I understand about getting more water and stuff, that simply seems to be the island way to me, but you asked them to change the music, and they did. If you hated that too, you needed to go up to the bar and ask if you could select something. Did they have any idea you hated that music too? As someone who often plays music to test sound systems, I know there is no pleasing anybody. ( In fact, I happen to have a cd of music that no one in their right mind likes, title, "music to annoy people by" ( several Hildegarde selections among others) It's great to have handy to put on when people start to complain.
I could always drop a dupe by La Flamboyant I suppose ;-)

BTW, we had dinner there w/ friends last January, and the food was excellent, the service a little slow but very personable, and we had a great time, though we did not linger due to the bugs.

I've been to La Flambouyant 3 times on 3 different trips, and each time it was great. The manager came out the last time and chatted with us. Very nice and accommodating to our requests. Seb, I take those little bug towlettes and wipe my ankles and legs when we go out at night:-)

You may simply not be as delectable as I am Hoppy.

What brand of dairy stuff is it out on the left coast that's advertised as "Hoppy's favorite"? We always used that butter when camping out there...

The last 2 times I've used Avon Skin So Soft and haven't come home with a bite. The kids didn't either when we took them. On previous trips I got eaten alive using the regular Deet stuff (must have gone through about 10 bottles each trip). I swear by Avon Skin So Soft now and won't leave home without it. It worked great on our BVI trip too and we were on the water 24/7:-)

But then again Seb, I can snatch a pebble from your hand, so those skeeters don't have a chance with me...LOL!

Seb,
I might like a copy of that CD. It is always frustrating when a guest insists that their judgement about what music is appropriate for a business is better than the owner and proprietor's judgment.

My favorite is when someone refuses to sit in the restaurant area because they "like to sit by the pool", proceeds to take the table six inches from the left channel speaker, and then complains that the music is too loud for them to enjoy their dinner.
