In april me and my girlfriend are coming to Bonaire for two weeks of relax diving :-)

But we are staying in a hotel room in Eden Beach.
So we would like to know what the general cost of food is in Bonaire.

What does a normal meal cost? What is the average price of coke, bread, ...

Tell me everything you know...

Thanks in advance

Loaf of bread, about $2. Dozen eggs, just a bit less than $2. Half gallon of American (fresh) milk, $7, case of beer (8oz bottles) +/- $20. You can find meals from $5 and up-it just depends upon your own desires.

Be sure you check ALL expiration dates on the food. Even that is no guarantee-we paid 3.50 for a half gallon of milk that was sour.

Eat like Antilleans do, and your prices go down. Long-life milk costs half of what American milk does. Rice is pretty cheap. Venezuelan and Columbian brands will usually cost less than American and Dutch brands, and are usually pretty decent.

I agree with Kevin on the way to eat. Be adventurous and try something different/new. We like going to the grocery and having to look at the pictures to figure out what the item is. The meats are great in the meat market area of Cultimara Grocery.

We just had a take-away dinner for three people from Op-Op Grill on Kaya Corona --- for NAF 25, (about $14) we had fries, cole slaw, ribs, sausage, two pork chops, half chicken and steak. We were stuffed -- and it was excellent. We ordered their Mix Grande, plus an extra half rack ribs -- yummy!!

We were the only non-local people there -- they did a lot of phone in orders while we were there waiting for our order --- open daily from 7 pm, and I think also for lunch.

Josie
