Has anyone ever eaten at the airport?
If so, tell us your story.

Jerry, unfortunately yes. It was July 2003 (I even remember the year and month)...I was waiting to pick up Jake, Linda, Bas, and Yana at the airport. Their plane was over 3 hours late, and I had no idea when they would be landing. I was STARVING, but didn't want to leave, so I ordered a burger to tide me over...(bad idea)...finally after over 3 hours of waiting I went back to the house and there was a message for me, they didn't know when they would be getting in...so I went for a snorkel at small wall...AND it was HOT! lol

We always eat there waiting for a plane, occasioanlly when passing by for something quick. Used to have good conch sate'. Breakfast sandwiches fresh-made are good, too. Way ahead of the franchise food at American airports.

Larry, the burger I had was definitely NOT way ahead of the franchise food at American airports...I got sick:-(

There wine list is a bit pricey for Bonaire, but there wine cella is well stocked.
Look for the 1978 Caymus, not to bad.

The airport restaurant has recently been taken over and completely remodeled by Moreno & his wife Antionella, former owners of Croccantino, and partners in Capriccio's--it's really quite beautiful now, with all equip. imported from Italy, but haven't tried the food yet.

It's really beautiful, and he's enclosing it (airco!)-looks like it's all wood, green marble, glass & stainless steel. Moreno is the one who already made the nice bar in the transit lounge (the one with the mosaic tile fish motif). Looks like good taste for all the senses.

The airport is coming together. Someone had the good sense to FINALLY put an internet cafe there.

Ruth, are they leaving the windows so you can see the planes taking off and arriving? It sounds fabulous!

Jerry, I was wondering if you knew...glad you started the thread or else we would have never known about the new transition!

I'm also thinking, they will be open all day, another place to stop for a quick meal between dives:-)

I sure hope they did not invest to much cash?
What about the parking, it's a big problem on weekends? Going for lunch with your truck packed with dive gear, and you have to park 1/2 a mile away, truck out of sight? I might have a problem here? But these guys do it right, let us pray it rocks for them. It will be so cOOl to have them right down the street from us.
