I am a new visitor to Bonaire and will be arriving with my Husband and Daughter on Jan. 14, 2006. This will be the first trip without doing all inclusive and wondered how much the average lunch and dinner costs? Thanks for the info

To put it as simply as possible: there is a very wide range of dining prices on Bonaire. Lunch could cost as little as 5 bucks per person or as much as 30. Great dinners can be had for as little as ten bucks a person to well over a hundred. The small, local places like Antriol Catering, Maiky Snack, Rose Inn and Gibi's can serve you great food at the low end of price spectrum. At the low end, there's also Subway and KFC (not my speed), a great rib/chicken bbq place called Bobbe Jan's and many more. At the high end there's quite a few italian, continental and european flavored restaurants where you can certainly run up a tab, particularly if you're into fine wine and cocktails. And there's tons in between. Definitely poke around on this board under the dining section and you'll read lots of input from folks with varied tastes and budgets.

It's also worth mentioning that cocktails, beer, wine and drinks as well as appetizers and dessert are the things that can really add up anywhere; it's pretty tough to estimate without taking all these things into account.

Donna

Here is a link to a current menu on the island, prices vary between restaurants but this will give you an idea of likely costs. The food is of a high standard.

donna, welcome to bonaire talk. you can find good meals in all price ranges. remember that many of the menus and also your dinner bill will be in guilders. we met people there last year who didn't catch onto that right away and as a result, drastically overtipped for their first meal...they thought the price of 90 was dollars instead of guilders and as a result left about $110 US on the table to pay for it.

Hi Donna,

I lived on Bonaire for 10 years+ and Peking Restaurant is my all time favorite. My personal favorite is their sweet and sour sauce (chicken, fish etc...)!!!!! Just typing this makes my mouth so watery :-)
Don't worry about not able to communicate with them because the owner's son speaks English fluently. I believe if you say Peking Restaurant, everyone know which place you are talking about. Have fun on Bonaire.
