Will shortly be traveling from Bonaire through Aruba and would like suggestions/recommendations for a restaurant near the Aruba airport to have lunch during my 4+ hour layover in AUA. Also suggestions on best way to get to your recommended restaurants (i.e., walk, taxi, rental car) and directions if possible.

Thanks for the suggestion Ann. Unfortunately Mirandi's is only open for dinner (they open at 5:30, per their website).

Posted the same question on Aruba's equivalent of BonaireTalk (http://bb.visitaruba.com) and got the same suggestion plus a few others: Pinchos, Rumba, Iguana Joes or anything else downtown. Depending on time needed to clear immigration and check in for my US-bound flight, I may or may not try doing this. Will post the results if I indeed succeed.

That's not a very long layover. You can't check your bags all the way, but must pick them up, go through Aruban Immigration and customs, wait for your US flight to open its check-in, wait to get through that line, go through Aruban Immigration again, go through US customs with your bags and your passport, check your bags in again, and head for your flight.
If time permits, I recommend the snack bar on the inter-island side, near the BonairExpress counter. They prepare the hot meals from scratch and have allowed me to substitute the side dishes. It's good Antillean food. I like the shrimp with sauce.

Hey, relax - have the pizza and a brew inside the airport. Get used to the high prices. 4 hours is not a lot of time the folks at BE are not the swiftest in the world when it comes to moving the line forward...
