Are Bonaire Talkers getting together tonight at Gibi's? (Tuesday, June 7)

If so, who's on the island? (My wife and I are.)

Also, what's the cost for dinner at Gibi's?

Thanks!

John,

I'm planning on being there with the family in tow. Cost works out to around NAF 25-30/person (depending on how much beer or soda you drink, of course).

I may be stopping at Mona Lisa first to pick up some Haaring though ;-)

Jake

What time do people gather at Gibi's?

Also, I discovered that Blue Moon has 20% off before 7 pm. Cool.

We get there between 6:30pm and 6:50pm typically.

Looking forward to it!

Jake, please persuade me why we should go to Gibi's tonight when my wife wants the Blue Moon!

;-)

(I'll be having a beer and checking back in a little while.)

A couple of reasons:

1) Authentic Bonairean Food (and inexpensive)

2) You get to see me and my family tonight if you go to Gibi's :-)

3) Blue Moon is open most other nights, and their "special" applies then too, I believe (just make sure to definitely order before 7pm - I've had to argue with a waiter who dallied about waiting until after 7pm to take my order - kind of ruined the evening to have to argue about that).

(Grovel) (Grovel) We didn't make it.

"Get in the car"? Didn't have one this week.

The map on the Bonaire Menu Guide website makes the street look relatively close to the shore, but the road in that location "on the land" just went through the industrial area. Looking at a better island map, I think it must be a much farther walk. Anyway, we walked to where we thought it should be, based on the Menu Guide, and then decided to turn back to the shore and get to the Blue Moon before 7 pm.

The waitress at the Blue Moon neglected to subtract 20%. I brought it to her attention. She looked doubtful, asked another waiter, and only when he nodded Yes, did they start to recalculate the bill. It took about 10 or 15 minutes before that was corrected. It didn't ruin the evening, but it left a little bad taste for us also.

We'll try to get to Gibi's next Tuesday, or before.
