Last time we were in Bonaire we primarily ate at our resort and surrounding resorts. This time we have a car for the whole week and we are looking to venture out. Any recommendations would be great. Thanks

Bonaire has some TERRIFIC restaurants. Among my favorites:

Cappricios
Mona Lisa
Lion's Den
Richards

I also heard that Maiky Snack is a wonderful local place-we didn't get a chance to try it.

Enjoy!

Everyone has their own list of favorites. Ours is:

It Rains Fishes
Capriccio Restorante
Lions Den
and the NY pizza place on your right going south out of town.

but there are a lot more depending more on what kind of food you like, and probably more than you will get to in one week. That is one thing Bonaire has - a lot of good restaurants.

Our Favorites (in order)...

MONA LISA
Capriccio's
Richard's
Donna & Georgio's

We also found the Rose Inn in Rincon and Maikey's Snack (off the road to Sorobon) had excellent local menus. We especially enjoyed the Rose Inn. Don't be afraid the try the goat stew. It's great!

Garden Cafe served one of the best meals I've ever had. The food was good and inexpensive, the setting was idillic, and the service was flawless. Ravi and his wife welcome every customer as if they were guests in their home with kindnessm attentiveness and respect. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Raja is truly a find. He is also the official Santa Claus of Caracas, would you believe.

Very romantic, tropical place to be, right on the coastline, nice vieuw, fantastic dinner and good service!!!! Also on thursday with the Caribbean night, is this the place to be. Big buffet and live music. It made our holliday complete!!

Linda and I happened to attend the unveiling of the new De Tuin menu last Tuesday evening - we (and all the other occupants of the restaurant) got to sample all the new dishes they've added to the menu. My favorite was a tandoori fish with a spicy pineapple relish. They have kept their great ribs with garlic sauce on the menu, and swapped out some other items. Overall, very nice new dishes. Also, if you like snails, they added a great snail appetizer.

Also yummy...
port sauce with beef tenderloin
goat cheese in pastry appetizer
gazpacho soup

For dessert..
my favorite was the new apple tart
Bas' was the parfait (a hit with Jake and myself too)
Yana's the chocolate mousse

Fear not, the famous ribs remain on the menu.
