Is Pasa Bon open on Tuesday night -- late enough for those of us arriving on the AE flight at night?

Alternatively, who else, other than Watta Burger and KFC, are likely to be open?

Sorry. Pasa Bon Pizza is open Wednsday - Sunday, 5-11 P.M. per my most recent copy of the Bonaire Reporter. We come in on AA around 8:00 P.M. which allows us to hit the Banana Tree at the Plaza before it closes. Have a great dive!

Watta Burger has been closed for some time now, KFC is open till 11pm (12 on Fri & Sat), and La Luna is also advertising a late night menu, I think even up till 2am (though I haven't been there myself & am not sure of their closing days).

AA arrives at 8:45 (IF on time)--so by the time you get your bags, car, hotel check-in...GO-don't waste time freshening up/unpacking, etc. If your hotel has a restaurant, ask the desk clerk to phone ahead & let them know you're coming.

Thanks, Ruth -- where is La Luna?

Once we're through customs, we'll be picked up by Benny from Bonaire Town Homes, and can go straight to eat. We arrange for him to drop us off at the airport the following morning to pick up the car, to make it easier to get something to eat. After we eat, we just go to our little bungalow at BTH and settle right in. This will be our 7th stay there -- almost down to a fine art! One of the joys of staying with a small operation is this sort of flexibility and convenience -- we love it!

Ruth, thanks. Bummer Whattaburger has closed down...guess we'll just have to hit KFC for those afternoon snacks between late afternoon dives (and that other place, for the life of me I can never remember the name, to the right of the Lost Penguin if you are looking at the Lost Penguin...;-)

Ruth, I swear we will come by to meet you this time! What are Mango's hours please?

Which reminds me, are there any restaurants that deliver? (I thought I remembered something about this a long time ago)

Josie, Benny will know where La Luna is--it's on the waterfront road between City Cafe & Divi Hotel, just after Blue Moon, and just before Mai Mai. It's where t'Ankerje used to be.

Cynde, you're thinking of Julio's place on the corner, and KFC is there for you all day & night (and for anyone balking out there about fried food-we serve green salads too).

Now, about Mango's--I'm no longer involved in the day-to-day operations (believe me, KFC is enough work!), BUT, GOOD NEWS-Mango's is now down on the seaside platform where the Green Parrot used to be. Breakfast is 7:30-10; Lunch 12-2 & Dinner--usually 6-8 (they're keeping shorter dinner hours because they're also still working on the place); however, on Wednesday nights they have the Manager's Rum Punch party (open to all) with Moogie playing, along with an all-you-can-eat BBQ. I believe this night starts around 5:30 & goes until either food, booze or energy runs out. (PS: I did pass on my wisdom about Salitos...and talks about getting it again are in progress.)
;-)

Oh, and re: Delivery--I think Annette (Last Bite Bakery-food) and AWC (Antillean Wine Co.-booze) deliver, but others-don't think so. We tried it for 3 years at KFC-man, I got so tired of hearing directions like this (yes, this is an actual direction told to me because I actually did most of the deliveries myself): "You remember "Jeanitsa" who used to work for you 3 years ago? Well, our house is the third one after her Grandmother's house" Oy. Just take a drive through any neighborhood, and look for street signs. IF they exist, they're usually not on both ends of the road, nor on both sides of the sign post--so you have to drive past & look over your shoulder to read street name. And house numbers you can see at night? No no no no.....

Ruth,
I guess that means that I'll need to bring this years snowball(s) into KFC to toss at you! Except, it's raining here in the Chicago area now, and unless we get some fresh snow in the next 12 days, It'll be the "Hostess" type.

Ruth,

Is there still a restaurant by the Sand Dollar pool? While my kids liked the food at Mangos, taking a dip in the pool while they waited for the order to arrive was the primary reason they asked to go there?

Ruth,

Mangos is now Seaside?? Fantastic!! I'll be able to watch everything that happens from our "usual"condo at the SandDollar!!

But that has to be a construction record for Bonaire...... we were there in late October, and there wasn't any hint or indication of any construction on the concrete platform.

Wow! To get something built that quickly on Bonaire seems like Devine intervention. We have been traveling to Bonaire for 6 or 7 years, and we see construction projects that have yet to be completed over that entire time span.

I am VERY impressed. I always new you were the type of woman that could get things done, but this is scary!

Think you could help me get my parking lot sealed??

I hope things are going well for you and Jan. If things go right, we "may" see you in May/June. Do you and Jan need anymore spray butter??

Dave.

Ruth, those delivery directions really are funny! People also use missing landmarks: "right past where Sal's used to be..." LOL!

Wahhhhh!!! No more Whattaburger?? Well that just means more trips to KFC... can't wait to finally meet you, Ruth.

Can't wait to try the new Mangos too... love the seaside dining! Just turn left after the second set of donkeys.. lol..

Kelly, I know, isn't is sad? (Whataburger gone)...I loved getting our food and eating on the tailgait between afternoon dives!

Ruth, I know about AWC (having them deliver a case of wine BEFORE we arrive...LOL!) I forgot about Annette's bakery.

Susan, thanks for the info on Giorgio's as well :-)

Belated answers to Sue, Chet & Dave....(I've been off-island since 2/15):

Sue-the pool deck area is being repaired, and the roadside (original) location of Mango's is also being mildly renovated. The road-side Mango's kitchen is closed at this time, but there are plans to re-open it (at least as of now) when those deck projects are completed. The pool is accessible for SD guests. The kids can take a dip off of the small beaches that have formed next to the Mango's seaside location now instead.

Chet-I was in NJ (hey, I've got to go back to my roots in the winter, if only to remind me why I live here now), so got to see snow first hand for first time in 3 years. It was really pretty, and I was glad I didn't have to go out & scrape off the windshield in order to go to work. Sorry I just missed the big blizzard they had this past weekend. NOT. It'd be ok to throw a box of Entenmen's chocolate chip cookies at me though, ;-)

Dave, thanks, but you give me WAY too much credit (as FM as I am). I'm no longer involved with Mango's, so had nothing to do with the "construction" (read: tin roof & basic menu on the old Green Parrot location) that's happened. It's kinda like re-modeling your house-if you've ever done it and lived in it at the same time, you know you usually want to whack the contractors, then yourself, on a near daily basis. There's just enough going on on the seaside platform to serve basic meals, while the planning & construction continue of both the road-side & sea-side locations. (PS-ok for now with spray butter--had to sacrifice the ones you brought to me to KFC because we ran out of our liquid butter for the corn on the cob; but then Jan went to the US, and brought back replacements, which went un-refridgerated for many hours-and we're still alive...)

For anyone going to Sand Dollar-don't worry about the "construction" I've mentioned, as it's very minor (almost cosmetic) stuff, not involving big machines/big work crews or lots of noise.
