We are starting the planning phases for a trip to Bonaire in 2001 (I know, how can we wait that long?). I see many comments about "reasonable" restaurant prices on this list. But, reasonable is a pretty subjective comment. What can we expect to pay for dinner at all these wonderful restaurants? Do any of the restaurants post menus and prices at any web site? (If not that would be a nice idea). We want to budget enough for a relaxing, pleasant stay. Any information appreciated.

Rosemary,

You can see some sample menus and prices at Bonaire Restaurants. The restaurants there are a reasonable sampling of prices you will find here while dining on Bonaire, although predicting what prices will be two years from now is difficult.

I would say we spent between $30 and $50, and we always had 1 or 2 drinks. This was supper. At lunch we spent between 20-30.

Laurie,
You mentioned "we spent"....was this dinner for two? Or did you spend $30-$50 each?
Thanks

Rosemary,
Just got back from Bonaire. We tried several new places. We stayed at Capt. Don's and the Rum Runner's restaurant there served very good meals at reasonable prices. Had lunch for around $ 3 to $ 8 per person and dinner including drinks from $ 15 to 25 . You could pay less than that, we just ate very well. Most of the other places we tried in town were about the same as in the states. Dinner with drinks ran about $ 25 per person. But you can find some for less. Try Richard's. The service was great and meeting the boss and talking with him was fun. Had a steak with a killer Bernaise sauce. The Rendez-Vous had the gold medal winning chef (very good) and the Den Laman had the gold medal bartender. She came in and fixed the drink she won with. Was great !! Also a good place for seafood. You really can't go wrong anywhere. Have a great time, we sure did !!

We loved Richards too! We also liked the Green Parrot, Zeezicht (did I spell that correctly?) and the Blue Moon -- there is also a great sandwich shop but the name escapes me right now. Bonaire is spectacular -- you'll love it!

The Sandwich Factory, makes a foot long that feeds two hungry people...

Hello. I have been lucky enough to win a two week diving holiday to Bonaire and Curacao. We as yet don't know when to travel but I'm looking forward to it already. What I would like info on please is the rough cost of food and drink on the islands as I don't have any idea at all. Any recommendations would be most welcome. We will be staying at Capt Don's on both islands. Just out of interest I won the main holiday draw at the London Dive Show last weekend.
I would also be interested in any additional info on both places.
Thank you
Geoff Buck
