Hi Bonaire talkers,
I'm bringing a group of divers from my scuba club to Bonaire in August, and I'd like to plan a 'farewell dinner' on the last night of our trip which will be on a Friday. It doesn't have to be anything fancy or expensive,,,just a place with good food where we could all be seated together. There will be 15 of us. Any suggestions? Robyn

Robyn, I have a few suggestions. I've gone with my dive club several times. The last time, in November, we went to the Tipsy Seagul at the Plaza for our dinner, and it was really good. We have also gone to Richards, and Captain Dons. I would have to say I liked Richard's best, because we had the whole area by the water. Of course you'd need to make a reservation ahead of time. Let us know what you decide and how you liked it !

Have lots of fun and safe diving.

Kelly

BTW, my parents used to live in Hollywood, and then Miramar (Pembroke Pines area, my sister went to school with Nikki Taylor). I loved it there. :-)

Thanks Kelly, I appreciate those suggestions. As a matter of fact, we're already going to do an "icebreaker party" with another dive group from Boston at the Tipsy Seagull on the night of our arrival. Richards is one place I had in mind for the farewell party,,, the food is great, but they're a little pricey.
What a coincidence that you used to live in Hollywood! I've spent most of my life here, and I love it. Robyn

Kelly, are you referring to LA? I think Robyn is in Hollywood, Florida! LOL. Left vs East Coast....?? Robyn's bio lists Hollywood Florida.

How about the Swiss Chalet?? If you can make arrangements ahead of time they might be able to rope off the whole (little) place for you. FUn with Fondu, too!!

Or maybe the "upper deck" at Chibi Chibi at the Divi??

Lots of places to choose from. Even Gibi's??? Have fun trying to narrow it down, Robyn...let us know which one you decide on. Oh...Casablanca, too...the outside area if arranged ahead of time, maybe. Hmmmm. So many places to choose from! Ayo. Carole

I suggest Mango's at the SandDollar...I'm sure Ruth could find a place for your group of 15. Richard's is pricey. Chibi Chibi would be good as well as Giby's (if you want to go basic). Casablanca's would be difficult because of the layout of the eating area. There is the buffet barbecue at Buddy Dive on Friday nite with live music (Moogy)

Thanks everyone for all your great suggestions! So far we're doing a party at the Tipsy Seagull on the night of our arrival, plus I'd like to take the group to Gibi's on Tuesday night if the Bonaire Talkers still meet there. I've never been to Mango's or Chibi Chibi, but I'm going to check out both places when I'm there for our farewell dinner. Thanks again! Can someone tell me if the Bonaire Talkers still meet at Gibi's on Tuesday night? Robyn

I love some of the ideas here. Susie did a great job with our Xmas group a few years back (Swiss Chalet). I would love to send folks to some of the spots that do not have the masses..that way a large group would be served well. Another idea is Lighthouse. I had some clients (the guy who proposed on the reef cam) go there for their engagement dinner.

One more thought is Croccantino where Elizabeth has LOTS of room out back...

What fun!

I agree with Ann that Elizabeth at Croccantino would do a great job. Also the Lighthouse is very accommodating - see Will or Sue. How about Lion's Den - Kirk is great with large groups and it's not that pricey. All these places have a nice variety of food. Richard's is ok but the menu is limited and they like to turn tables, so I don't know how you would fare with a large party for the evening. If your group wants fabulous Middle Eastern food, the Garden Cafe would be great. And I think Fridays they have a belly dancer as entertainment. Raj is the owner and would be happy to work with your party.

I hadn't thought of Croccantinos, but they do have fabulous food and lots of atmosphere! We had dinner there with Dara and loved it. Even got rained on!

Yes Carol, it was Hollywood, Fl. My parents live here now, or it would be a good excuse to go see Robyn! ;)

Hi Robyn,

Gibi's is a small place so it might be helpful to Gibi to let him know you are coming with a group of 15, esp if you go on Tues night with the BT group. (there was 15 or more of us the last time I was there). I am sure it would help him plan ahead.
