Hi there! My whole family is coming to Bonaire in June (after the festival) and wanted to know some great places to eat that were not really expensive and were kid-friendly. (Ages 4, 20 months and 8 months) Any advice?

We are headed there June/July with a 14 month old. We went once before about 2.5 years ago and we are just doing things again since the baby. We are staying at Belmar so we will have a kitchen which is important because we plan on eating most meals in, except when we have a sitter.

Our experience last time is that restaurants are on island time and it is quite easy to spend about 2 hours on a meal. That will not work with our daughter and that is our biggest concern about going out.

There is some fast food that would work downtown and another place I can think of is the Garden Cafe, their food and prices were good and service was quick.

I am also hoping some other people post here with ideas!

Most restaurants are on island time but they are also kid friendly. They are very happy to rush out an order of french fries to keep kids on an even keel.

1. Fresh milk is not served at any restaurant. They have long-life shelf milk like Parmalat.

2. Most places have chicken nuggets even if you don't see them on the menu.

3. Many places will make half size portions for kids.

4. Some places have high chairs but not all. So I used to bring an umbrella stroller to strap a toddler in for eating.

My kids (boy 7 and girl -almost 9) like:
Chibi Chibi - you can watch the fish in the ocean
Mango's - you can go swimming in the pool while you wait
The Lost Penguin - waffles, pancakes, eggs benedict
Bobbejan's - ribs and fries
Pasa Bon Pizza - pizza, of course (I call ahead and get the pizza ordered so we don't have to wait there)
KFC

Linda, thanks so much for the info. You were right most places were accommodating when asked if they had half portions and/or grilled cheese sandwiches. Every place we went had something to offer that was kid friendly, even though nothing was listed on the menu. We just had to ask.

Brittany
