Every thing I claim to know about Bonaire, I got from all of you on this site and I thank you. My wife and our instructors (husband and wife team)and myself will be in Bonaire 5/8 thru 5/15 staying at the Divi. We need to know approximate walking time to Gibi's and any other eating establishment close by you may have suggested at one time or another(just kidding no need for all of them). Casual pace of course, we are too old for any hurry.

Hi Nathan, Welcome to BT. I think you might want to rent a pick-up while on island. It's so easy to make shore dives here, but then you'll need a car. I think a walk from Divi to Gibi's is about a 30 min. walk via roads that are not that well illuminated... A car might come handy here as well... :-)

Hey Nathan, Martin is right, the road is not well lit, but I would say it is about a 10 minute walk. If you walk or drive out of the front of the hotel, turn left go to industrial, turn right, go through the yield sign at Lisa Gas, the next stop sign look straight ahead and to your left, you will see a small white building that says cafeteria, look closer and you will see Gibi,s. It is as close as downtown to Divi just not well lit. Martin is also correct in suggesting a pick up or small car for shore diving. We rented a small car last week at Divi, (they have a Hertz on site) and it was perfect. The rear seats folded down and you could easily put 4 tanks and all gear in the back and was things didn't bang around like they do in a pick up. Keep in mind we only rented this because they didn't have a truck available and we didn't want to wait. The trucks are a must if you are going to the park or want to park a little closer to some of the shore dive spots. Have fun!

I guess you could always grad/call a taxi to Gibi's, too...it's not that far. Gibi would probably be more than willing to call one for the return ride, too, if you couldn't hitch a ride with another BT'er who was there enjoying dinner with the group. Carole

They covered Gibi's but Divi is under a 10 minute walk from a number of good eateries along the waterfront (or hours if you stop along at bars on the way....my bad), Many of the restaurants that people rave about on the board are relatively close to Divi, including City Cafe, Lost Penguin, Richards, Mona Lisa, etc etc etc.....Divi is just at the south end of the main waterfront portion of town so if you really don't wanna rent a vehicle (which I'd strongly recommend) there's mucho eateries close
