My wife and I are looking forward to our first trip to Bonaire on April 1st, Question is, can we buy decent wine that is priced right on Bonaire. We have been to Curacao several times and wine purchase is not a problem.

No problem. Cultimara, the warehouse, and the liquor warehouse acrros the street from the warehouse all sell a decent varity of wines and hard liquors. The warehouse seems to have the best prices. The big 'C' is in Kralendijk and the warehouses are on Kaya Industrial (as I recall). To get there, head out of town as if you were going to the airport, at Lisa Gas turn into the wind (east) if you are not already on Kaya Ind. Watch out for the 'drempels'.

Hi,
The last two times we have been to Bonaire we have purchased our wine from the Antillean Wine Co. I'm not sure they have an actual store that you can go to...they deliver. We called them with our order before we were going out for the day, left the money at the front desk at the Belmar and when we got back the wine was in our unit. I can't remember if they have a minimum order or not...it was never a problem for us as we always ordered a case or more (four people/10 days). There was only one time they didn't have one that we wanted and they suggested a replacement that was excellent. They have a great website that lists all of the wines they have (red, white and sparkling) http://www.antilleanwine.com/index.html

Welcome to BT, Randy. There is also Antillean Wine Company. If you go to infobonaire.com , local information , food markets , scroll down that page and there will be a link to the wine company. I haven't used their services but know those who have and they have been very happy with it. You can look at their variety and prices on the site as well, both of which seem very good to me.
Enjoy your trip! We love Bonaire and will be back there in 10 days :-)
Mary Lou

Hi Barbara,
Thanks for the welcome back! It has been waaaay too long! Life just seems to get in the way sometimes. I solemnly swear not to let that happen again. Some things just have to have priority, BT being one of them :-)! It is nice to be back!
Mary Lou

Randy, Bonaire's location really lends itself to very good Chilean wines. Californias are not real accessible, although they sometimes pop up. However, any of the Argentinian or Chilean wines I've had are very good. If you go to Capriccios for dinner or lunch, Andreas, the owner brings all his wines over from Italy. He really takes pride on his collection and will be glad to show you the cool cellar he built. (57 degrees on Bonaire) If you are flying AJ, there is always that great stopover in Montego.

Randy,

If you're there when Jim is, invite him to drop by - he'll bring a nice bottle! (Hi, Jim)

Randy....agree with all the above. Antillean Wine Company is the least expensive. They do not have a store, only delivery. The owners are very nice, know their wines, make suggestions, etc. I think the minimum might be 6 bottles. They can be all different. If you call in the morning they will have your order delivered by cocktail time. Don't forget a cork screw!

Hard liquor is expensive. if you stop over in Montego Bay - buy it there - very cheap.
