Just back from our second great trip to Bonaire.

Our impressions of the food this year, with notes on the felines from a cat lover:

De Tuin: Excellent food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. I had barracuda for the first time, probably the reason two of them were bothering us at Windsock the next day! Try the lobster bisque.Great house cat!

It Rains Fishes: Great food and service, although we were not offered the usual bread thing they do. Try the catch of the day that comes en casserole with a cheese sauce and veggies.

Croccantino: Our new favorite Italian spot. Impeccable service and delicious food, large menu. Another great cat!

Capriccio's was a disappointment this year. We were not offered the specials that others that came in after us were, and there was a large party of Venezuelans on the island for a wedding that the servers fawned over and forgot us. Noone checked to see if we needed anything or asked how our food was and we were not even offered a dessert menu. I had to flag someone down for water, and we had to ask for the check 3 times! There were "regulars" by us who were also complaining about the service. Food was disappointing as compared to last year.

SandDollar for dinner: Pedestrian food, but I did meet the owner who came over and introduced herself.

Blue Moon: Excellent lamb, nice atmosphere, live, soft music. Yet another great house cat!

Chibi Chibi for lunch: Super burgers and fries, love dropping crumbs over the side to watch the fish frenzy!

Zee Zicht for burgers: Our favorite burger on the island, although we hear SandDollar does a good one. The same cat that hangs around Croccantino!

Great Escape for breakfast: Just adequate.

For dog lovers, the couple that hang around the restaurants by Karels have the best manners and are so friendly! But the island donkeys are the best...we went thru 8 bags of carrots and a couple of bags of apples. Everyone should visit and support the the Donkey Sanctuary. They are so caring and do very good work.

Oh, if you love cats, eat pizza at Rum Runners (habitat) and go see the kitties in their play area by the pool. Lots of kitties at Lions Den. They loved my leftover fish.

Wonder how Dara's cat and bird are adapting?

Susan,

Glad to see we were not the only one's being overshadowed by the Venezuelan Wedding Party.

We were staying at the Plaza. Thats where the wedding and their 300+ guests where staying.
They closed down the restaurants, bar and pool area to "regular paying guests". The beach was littered with plastic cups, drinking glasses, and shortage of beach chairs. We were also treated to noise around the clock and even a firework display at 1:00 AM - Sunday.

The Plaza didn't even address their regular guests when comments were made. They sure did address the Venezuelans complaining about long check-out lines and a cab shortage. They were given meal and drink credits.

We are waiting for a response/appology from the Plaza. You are luckly they only interupted your dinner!
