Anyone been to Carneceria Latina lately for their Saturday barbeque? When we visited in 2002, it was a wonderful treat.

They were still great last August Wayne. I love their ribs and chicken. They say "weekend in Bonaire" to me!

This is a new one to me. Is it a restaurant or a butcher shop. Sounds like something that would go well with Macaroni and Cheese. Where is it?
15 days and counting (though ever too slowly)

Take a look at this post:

http://www.oldbonairetalk.com/newsgroup/messages/31/22090.html#POST60181

It has directions and a picture that I took in April, 2002. The owner's name is Hubert and he and his family are great! If you go, mention my name and tell him I said hi.

It's a meat market/grocery that rolls out a big smoker on Saturday morning and cooks whole chickens and pork ribs. Get there by 11:00am to make sure that you get some. It's strictly to go, so buy some beer and take it back to your room or have a picnic on the beach.

Wayne, thanks for the list...I've added it for my next trip as a must:-)

Joe, I think you need to pack a few boxes of mac'n cheese to hold you over...Oh, and I really wish you were more excited about your trip...

Cynde, we usually just call and order over the phone, and then pick it up by noonish. Otherwise, they might all be gone!

Here's a picture of the barbeque if you haven't seen it on my earlier post. We'll be in Bonaire from January 12-20. Our 5th trip, I believe.

If you go to the barbeque, be sure to look up Hubert. He's a great guy.

By the way, forgot to ask about Bobbijeans. We haven't been there. Where is it located?

Also, if you'd like to see some more pictures from our trips to Bonaire, check out:

We're looking forward to our trip in 2 weeks.

Wayne,
BobbeJeans (or something like that) is about one block north of "downtown" and a block inland (away from the Ocean). They only serve on Fri, Sat and Sun. I think? there is a Barbecue sign where you turn left from the north going road toward the south going road and it's in the middle of the block (it's really someone's driveway and back yard) on the north side of the road. If that didn't help ya(if my instructions helped you it would truly scare me), you can probably ask anybody about where it's at. Most excellent ribs, chicken sate, and steak and it's kinda like the Carniceria in that they cook so much and then it's gone. A great eat at excellent prices.

Cynde Lou Woo Hoo Bododiodoo.
I could never get excited about 16 days of clear warm water, fresh seafood, most excellent islanders (and guests). Ok maybe a little!!!!!

Has anyone ever tried to check a 50 lb block of Velveeta carved into the shape of a suitcase.

16 days

Boy, this group doesn't lose focus....Joe, et al, there have been no supply ships since 12/19, situation's a tad desparate...I think I heard that the level of island "security" is at "golden/high" (no velveeta or other suitable cheese substitute available, possibly no macaroni either; hoarding is suspected). This heightened state of alert has prompted Island Security to issue a "BYOM&C a/o BYOV" announcement to the traveling public, and has asked that they be patient, and alert of their surroundings.
Thank you.

Methinks someone is picking on poor lil ole me. If I wasn't going on vacation in 15 days, I'd be totally bummed. Next thing someone is going to tell me that there is no Polar available on Bonaire. I DON'T CARE (But please don't tell me if there is a Polar outtage, I just don't know if I can live with the pain). I shall be spending the next two weeks developing a secret method for weaving velveeta into clothing.

LOOKOUT FOR THE GUY IN THE ORANGE SHIRT

.....uh, ok, won't mention Polar situation, but will say it's the same as every other end of the year that I can remember.... though there is promise of an extra supply ship arriving Friday January 2nd when there wasn't supposed to be any until January 8 (from Curacao) with, uh, more stuff. Supply of Polar at KFC & Mango's is OK thru the New Year! (Thru much begging--WHEW!)

Joe, ROTFLMAO! I hope the customs dogs don't sniff you out and attack you! LOL!

Ruth, of COURSE we can keep our focus! LOL! Please just keep telling Joe that there is plenty of Polar, I dont' think that he would be able to bear the next 15 days thinking that Bonaire had gone Polar Dry...BTW, what IS the shelf life for Velveta?

Cynde Cynde Cynde....the shelf life for velveeta is measured on the Escala Naranja (orange scale) and is roughly 3 times the life expectancy of a prenuclear cockroach.

ALMOST FOREVER (squared)

Orange shorts and shirt....maybe an ensemble of island wear
