We have two new retaurants in Kralendijk.
La Luna and Mai Mai.

Both are located on the waterfront right between Blue Moon Restaurant and Chez Lucille which is just north of the Divi Flamingo Hotel.

La Luna is at the site of the old Una Mundo/t'Ankertje. They renovated the whole dining area with nice wood and glass doors which all open so they have some outside seating under the stars and some covered. Nice diverse menu.

Mai Mai is right next door in what used to be a video store. You would never know it now. The place is completely renovated with an new covered patio beautifully decorated. Very chic upscale bar area. They serve Thai/asian/sushi in a tapas style so you can order several to make a meal. Nice open dining out on the patio.

Thanks Linda,

Just checked out La Luna's web site. Looks like they both will be worth a try.

Sounds fabulous! (the menu). Just hope the bar isn't noisy until 3: a.m, however. Sounds just delightful. Will definitely check it out on the next visit. There appears to be something for everyone on La Luna's menu.

Will stop by the other "new" place, too.... Mai Mai as we love Thai food, too. Actually there is not much in the way of food Joe and I don't like, unfortunately! LOL. All of the restaurants and local spots on Bonaire are absolutely fabulous. You can't go wrong anywhere in my book. Carole

Here is a quick review of Mai Mai:

LOVED the setting..Walter and Annette did a nice job with interior design. It is a great place for a romantic date as well.

Our waiter Joey was fab. Edwin is also great!

It is a tapas bar so small portions..we got 4 each. My favorite was the goat cheese and yucca dish. The Thai rolls looked nice. Our experience with the sushi was not good. The rice was overpacked and did not seem to be sushi rice..the fish was mushy and well, not too appealing.

Our dining companion had some beef dish and LOVED it..she is not a sushi fan so had an overall wonderful experience.

Cannot wait to go back...magical spot..

Ann

My friends waited 1 1/2 hours for their food not a good experience last week.

We went last night..again, the goat cheese with yucca chips in a honey balsamic glaze is SUPER for 11,50. The beef tenderloin is SUPER SUPER..but all else to me is just so so to me.

I adore the waitstaff and the surroundings..it is truly amazing.

Mags and I dine early at 6:30 so never have problems.

We had 5 tapas, 2 wines and a soda for 58.00 USD w/o tip included...for me living here it is pricey but it is my worth it once in awhile.

I just got back from Bonaire last nite...Mai Mai was ok... La Luna was the worse meal we've ever had in Bonaire!! 1 1/2 hour wait for food, individual meals (4 persons) came out separately about 10 min apart... two of our party could not eat the fish it was so bad (my tuna was fine). Pricing was not proportional to the meal served...the prices were high (which would have been ok if the presentation was better)...catch of the day and home fries was ~$25 I was expecting a very good meal for the advertised price...the owner was gracious not to charge for the two dinners that were not eatable.
