When we were on Bonaire last March we noticed that Super Corner was closed the week we were there. Does anyone know if it has reopened? We enjoyed going there and missed it our last trip.

After taking a break, Super Corner has reopened with the same owners. They have made some changes to the decor and added new items to their menu. Plans in the future include expanding their varieties of ice cream! Yum!

I drove by Super Corner this morning, and there was a sign out that they are closed on Mondays. I'm looking forward to trying them out again. The last time we ate there was a long while back (last summer) when one of our babysitter's fathers, Rudolph, was the chef there. (He's now got the Klijn maar Fijn Mobile Grill, parked near Cultimara Mondays through Saturdays for breakfast and lunch.) Not sure who they might have cooking there now...

I will post a report once we've sample the "new" Super Corner.

Hey Jake,

Does that "Klijn maar Fijn Mobile Grill" serve Iguana? We saw a few stands serving grilled Iguana at Rincon Day while we were there. Tastes like chicken, they say. Hmmmmmm. I'll stick with chicken and know that it tastes like Iguana!

Nope. Klijn maar Fijn serves Surinam cuisine, which in turn is an Indonesian derivative: Roti, Bami, Nasi, Pom, Fish balls (no, get your mind out of the gutter - these are seasoned fish meat patties which happen to be ovoid in shape), etc.

But the thing about iwana (iguana) is true - it does taste much like chicken, with slight pork overtones in terms of grain.

The only bad thing about eating iguana I experienced was all the little bones..too much work for not alot of meat.

I agree about iguana, however, it is a high protein staple that is now being commercially grown in the Caribbean. For myself, I am just as happy to let them eat all my plants and terrorize my dogs...

Eat iguana? Nahhh, I just feed them. Iguanas are supposed to reach a length of 2 meters. When was the last time anyone saw a 2 meter long iguana on Bonaire? I wonder why? I agree with Michael, let them eat plants and watch them grow...
