I am looking for a very special restaurant to celebrate my husband's 40th - preferably something with a very nice view (of course, excellent food and service are important too). Suggestions welcome.

Oh how nice to celebrate in BON. I did not have any kind or romantic moments in BON (snif) but had I done so, I think Harbour Village would be lovely. I had breakfast there and the views were lovely. It was very special.

I have a great idea...why not have a picnic basket made up for you from let's say Richards or It Raining Fishes, or Zeezicht...Then drive to Sergu Largo???(Its the beautiful monument to the Virgin Mary up above Nord Salina and sit and watch over the WHOLE island (the east side is a bit dark, but you can see the whole west side! It is a very romantic and magnificent site. Good luck!

Liz you are clearly a romantic but this is "his" birthday (grin). Suzanne, Richards is an ideal restaurant to celebrate your husband's birthday. Wonderful view of Klein Bonaire and the setting sun, good atmosphere, excellent menu and wine list. Depending on the day you might consider a reservation to be sure you get that special table.

Suzanne, I am a "his" and I will have to say I was quite taken with Sergu Largo here are links to a shot of the shrine and the view. I found the location to be everything Liz states plus very intimate.. Richrads has excellant food but not as intimate... Another thought on service, food, view and affordable wine list is Lions Den.. It along with Rendevous and Swiss Chalet offer, in my mind the best food and service combination.. Rendevous has ambiance.. but no view.. Swiss Chalet has absolute service and personality...(maybe not the best selection for a special day but they are such nice people I HAVE to mention it :))
enjoy !!

Harbour Village will make a nice dinner for two on the beach, under the palms with candlelight. VERY romantic.

Also we liked Capricios (great food and wine selection, across from Town Pier), but of course, any of these are romantic on Bonaire!

Since the bad links were causing lots of server link errors, I went and edited them in your original message, Jason.

For a nice romantic memorable dinner I highly recommend a private table for 2 on the beach at Harbour Village - you get your own waiter (who stands far enough away for you to enjoy privacy, but close enough to wave him down if you need something), tiki torches, the sound of water lapping on the beach, and the feeling of sand between your tows, all while getting excellent service and good food (a la carte), as well as a bottle of champagne.

Did this with my wife for our 10th anniversary a couple of years ago, and find it's still the most romantic meal either of us can ever remember having together.

You set it up with the Food & Beverage manager at HV, a day or so in advance.

Jake

I am really surprise nobody has mentioned the beautiful setting of Tipsy Seagull Restaurant at Plaza. Right in front of the sea, can offer you a great view, outstanding food and a very warm and professional service.

On our many stays at Plaza we have enjoyed excelent lunch and dinners at both Tipsy Seagull and Banana Tree, with very atractive prices (the only ones I have seeing without service charge).

You can check out their web site: www.plazaresortbonaire.com

Regards,

Richard.-

Is it possible to contact the Food & Beverage manager at Harbor village to set up the candle light dinner in advance? My bride to be (Wife by then) and I will be celebrating our honeymoon in Bonaire. I would like to surprise her with a romantic dinner, our first night on Bonaire. I don't want to be running all over the place trying to get this set up once we get there.
Thanks in advance!

Jay,

Unfortunately, Harbour Village closed down last October. However you may be able to arrange the same thing at the Plaza resort - drop them an e-mail at info@plazaresortbonaire.com to see what's possible.

Jake
