One place that never gets talked about too much on here is "The Old Inn." Because of its proximity, out by the airport, not many people even know of its existence. We went there last week for our first time. We were very happy with our experience. We did the whole Indonesian gig for two, and it was absolutely incredible. We took home enough stuff to invite people over the next day. There were flavors in this food that I never experienced before in my life. We also had lunch there one day. It was equally great. Give the Old Inn a try for dinner or lunch. It really is wonderful, either inside or outside.

Jim, we ate there last year in nov and our experience was great 2. We also had the "Indonesian Gig" for 2 and were eating all night. :-)
It was a shame there weren't more people there: there were only 6 customers at that time (the 2 of us and 2 other couples). I do hope they will keep their head above water, 'cause we will go back there!

I was wondering if the Indonesian food is authentic and not too adjusted to Dutch or American customers. And what the prices are...

I have this preconception that it does not taste like real Indonesian food (like my Granny used to make) and that it is expensive to eat @ Old Inn....

Wonder if you could change my biased mind... :-)

Hi Kitty!
How are u doing? Wanna get back 2 the beautiful Netherlands? :-) wink
I thougth it wasn't that expensive but I'm not sure. I guess the taste is a matter of ... well taste :-)
I haven't got a lot of experience with "real" Indonesian food (I think a friend of mine cooked three times for me) so I'm not the best judge of that, but I thought there were at least a few authentic things (more authentic than in the average dutch place). It didn't really matter 2 me though: it did taste good! :-)
I guess u'll have 2 check it out and tell us if it comes close 2 the cooking of your Granny.

Hey Guys!

I've been exposed to Indonesian food for a while (my father-in-law was born there). Found Old Inn to be very good. While I didn't really care for the ristafel, others have raved about it. For me the Kip Satay at a cost of only 20 NAF is the best bargain in dining on Bonaire. Great flavor, plentiful portions, served with your choice of fries, rice, or noodles. Personal choice.... noodles, home made, handcut, and delicious. We would never go to Bon without eating there.
Bob

Hi Kay,

Doin' jus' fine. I'm usually at the board at least once a day, mostly lurking, but every once in a while I throw my two cents in.

Bob

My two cents worth, it's good value for the money, the food is tasty, and I agree that the satay is excellent. Good service, and if you come in on a late flight, after you get your rental car at the airport, just park across the road from the Old Inn and decompress from your flight over a satay and some fine wine...
Darn, I'm havign bad PBD...
