I will be in Bonaire May 25th for a week. We will be doing one boat dive a day and the rest are shore dives. I know we want to do the town pier for a night dive but what are some other "must see" sites. It would be nice to do some more advanced diving if it can be found. What are some of the good boat dives? We will be at Buddy's and my hope is they take requests for there boat trips.

We are very safe and respectful divers that only take pictures and only leave bubbles. We also know not to touch anything. If you have a favorite spot in mind but don't want to post it please e-mail me at underexposed@scubadiving.com. We would also be up to going to a spot with you if you want to share it that way.

Happy diving everyone....[:]q

Boat dives: Rappel and the good Klein Bonaire sites (others can comment on Klein)

Shore dives not to miss: Blue Hole, Oil Slick, fisherman's hut (unofficial site). You usually can't go wrong with the Andreas and Red Slave.

Don't miss Hilma Hooker which can be either a boat or shore dive.

A good boat dive off Kline is Forest, and an interesting shore dive is the Salt Pier. You can dive the pier if the Pink Bus is there, or your dive operator can get permission from the Harbor Master as long as there are not any ships at the pier.

Mark,

Alice in Wonderland.

If this is your first time to Bonaire or if you have never seen it, the double reef structure at Alice in Wonderland is amazing. The inside (first reef) is great all by itself but going seaward into the unknown over the white sand in gin clear water is a thrill. Seeing the mountain star corals and formations will have you posing like a cheshire cat. It is well-named.

Bud

I'd recommend:

Karpata: Interesting topography, typical northern end dive. Can be done either by boat or shore.

Klein: Some of our previous favorites were damaged by Lenny. So, we've been going more often to the protected side. Rockpile is nice.

South: Any where from Red Slave heading north. The current usually heads north. So get in and do a drift dive to wherever it takes you. Best done with booties.

My wife and I prefer soft coral and dive south more frequently. Invisibles is nice. Many of the southern sites have more sand in the shallows and visibility can be a problem.

I'd have to agree with John...Rappel is a wonderful boat dive. We also liked Captain Don's reef on Klein Bonaire. For shore dives, Karpata, Red Slave, Oil Slick, and Margate Bay have been favorites of ours.

Are there any dives that you have a good chance to see sharks? I've been diving with them in Canada and the Bahama's and really enjoy it.

Thanks for all the feedback
Mark....[:]q
