Congratulations David. My husband and I have spent many weeks diving on the west end of Curacao and love it as much as we love Bonaire. Where will you be staying? We always stay out on the westend at Allwest Apts and they have a great dive operation there. It is 45 minutes to town, but the roads are good and we frequently go to town for dinners and shopping. There are great beaches on Curacao, if you want some ammenities, Porta Marie and Cas Abo are great. You can spend the day there and both are great shoredives. Pack a picnic and go out to Playa Kalki, it is an incredible shoredive. There is an underwater statue of Neptune in front of Allwest Apts which is really cool to see. Allwest has a great roomy dive boat, they usually do Watamula and Mushroom Forest as a 2 tank dive and I'm sure they would let your bride ride along or she can lay on the beach at Playa Kalki and await your return. Playa Kalki is where Allwest has their new dive shop and pier. Watamula is the most beautiful dive that I have ever experienced, done it 4 times and can't wait to do it again. There are great shorediving sites along the Landhuis San Juan, private property, take a lunch and spend the day. The prettiest beach is Big Knip, the surface swim there is a little long to get out to the reef but is worth it. Versenbaai charges a small fee to dive but also it is worth it, and it is closer to town. Don't know much about the east end of the island, I understand there are some nice beaches east of the main town but most dive sites are boat dives and from what I have read, they do not compare to the west end sites for beauty and over all health of the reef. My husband asked me to marry him on the beach at Playa Kalki 2 years ago. We later found out that Kalki means limestone, a great foundation to build on for our marriage. While out on the west end do stop and see Boca Tabla, I love just sitting along the rocks and letting the sea spray me. Hope you have a great time.

There are many gas stations around the main town, and you will find a gas station in Barber, that is the last one heading west. The last time in Bonaire, I only remember one station near the airport. Most islands that I have traveled to only have one or two stations. Just never run low on gas and you won't get stuck, that's advice I follow even at home.

I am glad to hear people seem to like Curacao as well as Bonaire or atleast almost as well. My fiance and I will be spending a week in Bonaire and a week in Curacao for our honeymoon in June and i can't wait.
