OK, it's now just 5 days, 17 hours, 18 minutes and 6 seconds until our scheduled take-off to Bonaire! Do you think I'm just a wee bit excited about this trip? LOL! Our dive package includes a rental truck for shore diving and also a one-tank boat dive each day with Toucan. I'm curious to know more about the boat diving in Bonaire. Is it mostly drift diving, or are there moorings at some of the more popular boat diving sites?. I do occasional anchor dives in the Keys and have no problem with it, but I do enjoy the leisure of a drift dive. We're hoping to be able to visit sites like Rappel, 1000 steps (we may try this one from shore), and also the more popular sites surrounding Klein Bonaire. Please advise. Thanks, Robyn

very little drift diving available (toucan does hit those sites though - mostly 'round klein)...most sites have a mooring you can use either as a shore or boat dive...

All of the boats have to hook up to existing moorings. Dropping Anchor is not allowed. Personally, I recommend that when the captain of the boat asks where the divers want to go, suggest Klein as often as possible. You can get to most other sites from shore. Hilma Hooker is a bit of a swim, and Small Wall, where the underwater cam is located, has no public shore access, But the only way to Klein is by boat. Try not to miss Karpata while you are there. Have a great time. We're happy for you, but also jealous of you...
