don't know about the strobe rentals - hope yours shows up;)...if this is new equipment, no strobe may be a blessing...you won't be "cooking" any shots;)

there's been lots of ok pictures posted here taken without the benefit of a strobe...

good luck!

I don't know if they rent the strobe either. We too have one on order. I am very excited to have it on every dive when we get there this June. :-)

Hi Aaron,

I moved your message over here from the WebCams section.

Anyhow, the strobes Buddy Dive and others rent are likely to be Nikonos SB-105s, which are not likely to work with an Ikelite housed digital camera. I have the Sony F707 and an Ikelite housing, and that requires the Ikelite DS series strobes (60 or 125, I think). You won't find those being rented out, because they are very hard to get - took me 4 months to get mine, after being on a waiting list. I believe the F717 has the same requirements in an Ikelite housing...

i didn't have to wait for my DS125 but it appears i did receive an opened box part (paid regular price though)...i had to go in and crimp the female contacts a bit (where the battery pack and strobe interface), the unit was a little intermittent...well it works ok now...

(if all "loose" problems could be so easily addressed;))

I sure hope Aaron finds a strobe so we don't have to lug the Nikonos on the trip :-) 8 days and counting !!
