I'm creating a HYPOTHETICAL dive plan for the Windjammer wreck. Does anyone know what temperature to expect ? I have the depths and layout. Thanks

78-80 at the surface...76+ at the bottom depending on thermoclines...

Does anyone have a good history of the Windjammer? I would love to get one. You could e-mail me directly at rwk@bellsouth.net. Thanks a bunch. -Bob

Are you talking about the Windjammer cruise ship that went down a couple of years ago in a hurricane in that area,or another ship with that name?
Might be a silly question but I was wondering.
Thanks

Here are some quick details I picked up from an article a few years ago. (Picture on http://www.infobonaire.com/html/history.html - last photo on the page. )
The Windjammer 'Mairi Bahn'
Iron hulled, 237 foot three masted Bark, sank in 1912.
Carrying a load of asphalt from Trinidad to Marseilles, France. Going around Bonaire to avoid a squall. Grounded on the reef.

Dive for experienced decompression divers only. About 100 yards off the north west shore. The deck is at 160 foot depth. Molten asphalt spilled out of the hold when the ship caught fire and spread across the once sandy bottom forming a hard layer.

(Sport Diver - Sept/Oct 1998 issue written by Ellsworth Boyd.)

Captjoe
As Linda indicated in her posting there is a picture at that site. I just bumped into this little additional info today. Now all we need is when it was built.
MAIRI BAHN ; Patrick Henderson Co., iron clipper 1,315 tons built by Barclay & Curle of Glasgow for
Capt PJ McIntyre of London. Her name is Gaelic for 'Bonny Mary'
It does sound like an interesting wreck, not that I have any thougts of going there anymore.
