Hey Y'all, Iam going to Bonair at the end of July for 3 weeks :o). I was reading Rodale's Scuba Diving magazine and they had a little wright up about Town Pier. They said that you must get permission form the harbormaster. My question is, how hard is it to get permission form the harbormaster and is the dive worth the inconvenience? If so, is there someone I can e-amil or contact before my trip to Boair?

Robbie, Welcome. You can ask your dive shop to arrange a permit. It's a guided dive, so I think the dive shop will arrange at least 1 pier dive a week.

Hi Robbie, welcome to Bonaire Talk, my husband and I are headed to Bonaire next week and are planning on diving Town Pier. We are diving with Phototours and I know that they do 2 night dives a week at Town Pier. If you look at the Infobonaire site and the dive operators they usually post special dives that they do. Several of the divemasters at Toucan at the Plaza will take you out privately. Contact Toucan to put you in touch with them. (We used Erika O.)

Hint: Go late, we got in the water last Wednesday at 9:15pm and there were only 2 other groups there. Heard that at 7pm that night it was crawling with divers.

Welcome to BT. The Town Pier is a must dive. Bas at PhotoTours is great to dive with. Sue is right about going late. You will hav many great dives in Bonaire. Enjoy!

Also, no diving when the U.S. Coast Guard is in port. If so, I think the Salt Pier is a great alternative.

Just a note about diving at Town Pier. It appears the going rate for the guide is $20 per person (US). While this is not outrageous it did come to us as a surprise when we wanted to dive at Town Pier.
