We are interested in Kayaking around Bonaire and snorkeling. IS this possible? If so, are there any places to rent Kayaks near the Plaza? Can you strap your Kayak to your wrist and snorkel?

thanks for the help.

You can rent kayaks at Jibe City on the south side of the island. Check out www.jibecity.com
It'll look like a windsurf site (which it is) but they also rent sea kayaks. The snorkeling is really nice there too. Ernst runs Jibe City / a funny nice guy :-)
Have fun.

There are at least 6 more places to rent kayaks as well, most on the west side. Many of the resorts have them for guests as well as does Discover Bonaire, which has guided trips and slso offers courses in scuba diving from kayaks. Now if the could just arrange for skydinving, kayaking, scuba....

Mike,

Where are you planning on landing when
skydiving in a 25 knot easterly? And how?

Next will be hang gliders!! They might be
good for an adventurous trip to Curacao when
ALM is late!. ;–)

who said anything about a ground landing the whole idea is to have them land in the wate, with scuba or have kayaks thrown out of the plane with them.

Like Navy Seal training. The die hard adventurer gets dropped so as to land on the Eastern side and has to make a "beach" landing through the surf. Of course, a 10 course tiki torch lit dinner awaits, after all it is their vacation :-)

As a start, I recommend that you go to the Infobonaire page on snorkeling: it has a lot of useful information.
In Bonaire, you can snorkel practically everywhere, but according to my experience and suggestions in this Board, I would recommend:
1. Do a Guided Snorkel tour (at least one). They are especially useful in the beginning; afterwards, you start to find your own way.
2. Go on a Sail and Snorkel morning. A wonderful experience!
3. Go to Klein Bonaire - in one of the above, or with the "Sea Cow". If you go to the beach (No Name) be prepared: take plenty of water and some sun protection (it is very hot: not for children)
4. Rent a car or other transportation: that will be necessary to explore beach snorkeling.
5. Take the "Orientation Session" the resorts usually offer. You save a lot of time that way.
6. Turtles are not guaranteed, but if you snorkel everyday you are bound to see one or two. If you are interested, find where you can attend a talk/slide show by the Sea Turtle Conservation Group (at the resorts)
You will enjoy yourself!
