We have been to Bonaire 2x previously but only as snorklers, but in March we will go as divers (brand new divers) and I would like to know what depths we should expect to dive when we shore dive. Im sure you can go to any depth, but the average is what I want to know.

When I dove the Hilma Hooker I reached a maximum depth of 91 feet. Most of the other dives that I did were in the 40 to 55 foot range. If you are Certified as Open Water (60 foot suggested max depth), you can dive to 60 feet or less and not miss anything.

Cindy...I agree with John...50 to 60 feet is usually the max for us....sometimes you find yourself a little shallower..and sometimes alittle deeper...but 50/60 seems about average.

Most of ours are in the 30-40 ft range which is the average depth where the reef takes a sharp drop. The exceptions are the double reefs down south which we do 70-80 ft in the channel between the reefs and the Hooker at 100ft. You can get to 100ft there IF you go in the hole washed out under the bow and lay your comp in the sand.
