Last year I looked and looked all around the tube sponges and fan corals for a seahorse. Knowing that they move so slowly so that they generally stay to the same area, can anyone suggest a place for me to find one of those elusive little critters this year? I don't think we will do any boat dives so it would need to be a spot we could find via a shore dive. If I don't see one toward the end of our week, I guess we will have to sign up for a boat dive and get the divemaster to show me one, but I would really love to find one on my own, if possible.

Thanks for your help!
Cheryl

I know some people do find them on their own, but I never have.
Linda at the Carib Inn has had a pretty good record of finding them for us.

I can never find one on my own either, and the DM at Divi always show us stuff, thats why I like going with them, plus their a nice bunch of guys.
I did see one years ago snorkeling in front of Divi by fluke.I am not lucky at spotting frog fish either, hope you see one and tell me as we will be on Bonaire May 21 for 3 wks.

Lorraine,

3 weeks?!!!! How nice! My husband and I go on several 1 week vacations a year, with and without children but I don't think I could imagine being gone for 3 weeks! I guess I am too much of a control freak because after the 8th day I would start fretting....wonder how the dogs are at the kennel? Did I turn off the coffee pot? I hope the pet/plant sitter is doing a good job with the cats, birds and plants!

Maybe when I retire and my kids are grown, the pets are long gone...maybe....just maybe?

Cheryl

And thanks for the suggestions of DM to use...but are there any specific dive spots where one may be seen?

Hi Cheryl,
I imagine where they were has changed, but there was one at small wall(Linda,Jake) everyone stated not to bother it and not to stress it out.
Our children are grown, youngest is 23, no grand kids, and the dog is gone, and Jim is retired, not me, but I do get a few weeks a year and we started when the kids where with us with 10 days then advanced to 3 wks and we still don't want to leave in the end, maybe we will "snowbird" for 3 months when I retire. If things work out. We fell in love with Bonaire in 86 and learned to dive there in 91' Lisa Mitchell was our instructor and she taught us a great respect for the reef and it's creatures Maybe Jim and I will run into to you someday, sounds like we all love the place.
Have a great trip!
